Well 311 has been out since 1988. The first major album came out in 1995. It was called "311", a self titled album.

A couple of songs on that album was on MTV allot, "All Mixed Up", "Down", and "Dont Stay Home". They have a HUGE fan base, but its sort of a underground fan base. Its hard to describe what type of music they are, since its a mixer of a bunch of music. They have had (8) major label albums released since 1993.
