Custom Kick pods - good prices!
For anyone interested, there is a company making kickpods custom fit to any model of car. They say they have ones for the Protege, 1993 and up - sounds like they'd have ours in there!
These seem to be high quality fiberglass (UNlike plastic Q-logic pods - which I don't think they have for our cars yet), and the price is NICE: $190 for an unfinished set, $225 dyed to match the interior, plus a few other more expensive opotions (vinyl and gel-coating). Anyone who has priced out custom pods knows these prices are very good (I was quoted $170 PER POD minimum a few months ago).
I found this on a car-sound board - check it out:

they look like ***.
Kick panels are also more about imaging then looks.
The best maker will charge or $1000 per pair becuase they take the time to image them properly for the type of speaker being used.
Under $500 ususaly suck, Under $1000 can look good and they might get lucky with the imaging. If you want the real deal you have to pay. Check out sound in motion's web site. THey do the best work in the country.
This is one of there panels in an Avalone.
