cracking the orange

Ok i was talking to a friend about cars and stuff, and i came up with i need to get clear corners for my Pro.

Then my friend said something about cracking the orange part out or something like that

I ahve no idea what this is, but has neone on this board tried it?? or has even heard about it??

any replies about it would be great, and if I can get an how to do it, then that would be great

I've the 1st gens doing that to their turn signals. They brake away the orange/amber plastic and below their is a clear plastic I think.

I could've sworn seeing clear corners for 3rd gen on ebay for $40 bucks! Compare that to the $100 for the 2nd Gens and compare that to none for my 95-96 turn signals.

Why not just spend $40 bucks on ebay, and buy clear corners? They have them on ebay for your model all the time. What if you do something wrong? You are going to end up buying new ones anyway. Just a suggestion.

my problems

I have no money myself so I can't goto a store to buy them (for a more expensive price)

and noway will my parents do anything online....they don't believe in it, and they won't do it even if their life depended on it

plus they don't like spending money on the car like modding it, so i can't take them to the store to buy them

so you see my situation

edit: also remember $40 american is equal to $60 canadian, which can kinda make it look a little higher, according to my parents neway

Well think of it this way... (just think don't do)

Try the mod of breaking the orange/amber lenses and it comes out ugly or there isn't anything behind the orange/amber lenses and so they're ruined. Then you'll have buy new turn signals -which God know's how much they cost- or you'll have to buy the aftermarket $40 ones. Plus you won't be able to sell the originals (if you want to) to make some money off of them.

If you buy the aftermarket ones, you could (if you wanted to) sell the originals to someone that needs them and get some of the money re-embursed.

Well, if the financial situation does not allow you to get them right of the way, try to save some money and get a mod that would actually gain you power. You see, when I first started here, I went for the clear corners (look at my signature pic) right of the way, and put out $100 for them. It took me a while to realize that for that money I could have asked a muffler shop to bend me a custom cat-back exhaust, and then get the muffler and put the whole system in. Now overall, that would cost around $200, but I could gain about 12-15 bhp that way. Though I spent a $100 and gain no power at all. But, it is your money, and it is your car, and it is up to you what you decide to do with it.

yeah i can tell you money dissapears fast, but i am getting pretty sick of my brother telling me how he recognizes my car by the big goofy orange corners...and i cant say hes not right, because they do kinda stick out like a sore thumb...but until i get a job...and pay off some debts...and then save some money...i will have to live with these goofy bastards.

depending on the type of lense, some are clear with an orange insert in them....if you take a heat gun to them, you can pry off the inside orange piece with ease.

Otherwise, the whole lense is orange, and you will have to buy an aftermarket clear one.

good luck

The reason they do not sell aftermarket lenses is because most of the bodykits for your car are from aisa/europe. In Europe, etc.. they do not have a marker light on their bumper, so they do not come out with it here. It will eventually come out with it, but it will just take long. Volkswagen had the same problem with their side markers, all their parts came from europe, and since they dont use those markers on EU cars, some guys had to make it themselfs here. After a while, some manufactures like APC and others will eventually make them if there is enough demand. Its up to you, if you really wnat them right now, you are going to have to make them yourself and be creative, or wait for them to come out.
I must be misunderstanding what you are saying, but he has nothing to wait for. They make them already and they look pretty nice too:

ye thanks all....

and N.E.R.D I think your talking about side marker lights...I'm talking about the clear corners.

hmmm custom bent cat back exhaust....for about $100 and it could add 12 - 15 hp....hmmm....seems pretty tempting....but having an all white car with big orange things on teh side makes the clear corners more prioritive right now...I think it will look good with that squall kit that i plan on getting (under thread named Body Kits)
