I honestly don't mind who makes it, as long as it works, and is better than the stock deck.
I it has to have a removeable face plate, because the place I park my car at work, is known for breakin's.

Best value I think is the Kenwood MP8017. (I've got one) Flip down/detatchable face with "camouflage" - you can take the face off or just flip it over to a blank panel. This is a very good deck for a very good price.
It's not the most powerful deck on the block (I'm either going to replace mine or get an amp), but for the money, I don't know if it can be beat.
You can probably get one for around $200 from eBay - maybe less - there are tons of them up for auction.
Forget the Jensen - that's PepBoys crap - as cheap as it is, it's overpriced.
I looked at the Aiwa's (CDC-MP3 and CDC-MP32). The first has been known for skipping, and has an annoying display that blinks when you adjust the volume etc. The second (MP32) looks really nice, but only has the "magic flap" motorized face - can't be detatched. Plus the display looked very bright and it has NO dimmer function.
My ideal deck will have: Detachable and/or flip over face, full dimmer funcion (works with the dash lights - what happened to the old days?), MP3 capability, it'll look good (match the interior or at least contrast nicely), sound good, and will have an optional steering wheel remote that also looks clean. Suggestions are okay, but I've looked at just about everything within a reasonable ($400-$500) price range, and all of these criteria (plus some others I'm sure I forgot) are tough to find in an MP3 disc player.
I'm sticking with the Kenwood MP8017 for now....

I'm not sure what kinda ride you have, but I would like a deck that kinda blends with the car. I've got a '99?

you couldn't get the file naming system to work correctly? Mine works perfectly. If you just download the files you have to double check the ID3 tag. You may need to change it or set one as it will use the file name if an ID3 tag is not available. Its a great deck especially for the price. You can get it new from crutchfield for $260 or a little less....

I'm pretty sure that KDC-MPV619 is a "new for 2002" model - looks nice.
Gro- I agree with all the reasons you dislike the Kenwood, now that I own one (SQ wise only - I find the functions to be fine, the display is good, and my ID3 tags read perfectly)
I have read some bad reviews of both the Aiwa CDC-MP3 and CDC MP32 - the MP32 is a sweet looking deck, but some of the features are lacking (dimmer? removeable face?) and both units do not play MP3s from the point you stop - if you shut off the car in the middle of a track, the track starts over when you power up again. Plus I've heard a lot of complaints about skipping- if I can say one thing about the Kenwood MP8017 - it is ROCK solid - skips only over the roughest of roads, and barely even then.
Dude, MP3 cd players are coming down in price, and Kenwood does have some nice 2002 models. Go with what you like - but research, like posting questions here, is always your best friend. Research kept me from swapping my 8017 for the Aiwa. You'll find something you like for sure.
