i don't think you can change to yellow bulbs (i don't think they make them in anything but white). You could get a peice of yellow cyran wrap(how the hell do you spell that anyway?) and put it over the bulb. Maybe put some b/w the bulb and cluster?

get yellow condoms, seriously its just a rubber thing that covers the bulb. take apart the cruise control or defrost buttons they have them on .

btw does anyone know if white leds could be used in place of the needle lights, mine are an off-white due to color spectrum of incan. light and the needles are painted white as well, just would like something brighter, white. doesn't match so well with blue, red, and yellowish white....

you know you can convert those bulbs to LED's and then you could just pick your color. You also wouldnt have to ever replace them as LED's will prolly outlast your car.

What do these leds look like and where could I get them. It's a dumb question, but I don't know anything about gauge cluster lights. Also, can you change the leds in the stock stereo too and can these leds be dimmed with the dimmer switch? Thanks.

if you don't know much about your gauge lights, i would suggest leaving it alone so you don't wreck anything. of course, that's what i would do in your situation. what you are describing you want to do would involve very deep wiring changes, and unless you do it correctly, you can serisouly screw up your radio, cluster, etc.

Well, I know enough about wiring to get by. I just don't want to run into any problems if I do decide to do this. Thanks for your concerns.

it's not a protege, but it will give you an idea of what might be involved.

my roommate just had to pick up a resisiter and soldered it to the positive end of the bulb wire but other than that the install was just like a bulb. Since all cars run on ~12V i would think the install would be the same for anycar.

i was junkyarding today, very unsuccesfully, figuring out how i could possibly change the a/c controls in my first gen, only to realize that getting behind the thing to change the bulb is useless, instead, if you look carefully at the section thats lit up (first gens only i am assuming), you can pry the lable that lights up and you could feasibly make your own vynl or detailed plastic layover, as the way the coloring is achieved is via this colored lable that lets light shine through, the bulb itself is already white, so changing bulb colors wouldn't help. i'll keep you posted if i find anything out.
peace
edit: the way i wanted to say that is it's just a colored plastic overlay held on with adhesive
