Center Console
#2
I checked my Mazda service manual for this and the instructions are pretty vague but heres what it says...
"Pull the boot panel upward then disengage clips A and B from cover"
In the picture it looks like the guy grabs the panel between the two cup holders and pulls up. Then theres 2 slips on the side just in front of the shifter, one or two near the cup holders, and 4 at the other end.
Now for the parking brake cover, there two or three clips on each side and one hook in the front. It says to use a taped up flat head screwdriver and undo the clips and then slide it out of the hook.
Now for the console itself theres 2 screws on each side of it one and front and one at back. And it looks like theres two underneath the parking brake cover.
Hope this helps...

good turn out
I took the console apart, pulled out the tiny sub-194 bulb in the gear indicator (automatic), pulled off the tiny green bulb gel, and painted the bulb with this kandy like paint called "stained glass". The results are exactly what I was looking for. The red light given off almopst exactly matches the P5's lights and there is no sign of the paint burning off or fading. I also did the same to my a/c control lights and they turned out just as well. Thanks for your help guys. Now if i could just find a way to change the gauge lights to red I would be all set.

This is cool! I wanna go do that this week I'm going to be using blue, though, instead of red.
Does the existing green gel come off easy?
Could you please tell me which exact paint you used? Did you pick up a bright red or a dark red hue?
THanks

The green gels usually just peel off but I had 1 or 2 that required a little thumb nail scratching. Nothing major. The paint is Krylon Stained Glass. I picked it up at Hobby Lobby for $6. I went with a darker red hue because it give off a richer, deeper color than a lighter shade would have. Becareful handling those tiny bulbs, they tend to be pretty fragile. I broke one of them pulling it out of the socket. If u need anymore help let me know. Let me know how it turns out also.
