Hey guys!

I haven't been able to find an answer to this question in a search, so here goes:

I have a stock 2001 head unit in my ES Pro, and am looking to add the cassette module. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows whether the cassette module is the same for all 3rd gen Pro's; as in, will one from a 2000 Pro work in my 2001?

I'm thinking about trying my luck at a junk yard; maybe find a wrecked 3rd gen, and if it happens to have a cassette unit in it maybe pick that up on the cheap (compared to the expensive cost of getting it from the dealer, etc.). It's a long shot, I know, but figure it's worth looking if it'll work!

If the '99 Miata unit pictured at this link well and true is the standard unit installed in the 2000 Proteges, then it looks pretty different.

I guess I have to go 2001-2002...

 

I believe the '99s and '00s have a different stock HU than the '01s and '02s. You'd also have to match illumination in the newer HU's (green or amber depending on your car).
