Run your wires to your trunk, get 2gauge wire run your battery wires to your trunk move your battery and all lol

why does everyone want thier amps under the seats? do a clean install and place it in back with the box so the power is right there next to the box or in the box, part of the box.

I have never seen so many people with amps under thier seats. Too many people can f up the wires with there feet or pinching in the seat frames sliding back and forth. Not to mention you have to drill holes thru your floor boards

The trunk is off limits for me, unfortunately. I have a set amount of music gear that I haul around, and it fits very tightly back there with no room to spare (I took all my gear into the dealer to try it out before I bought the car!).

I think with a neat installation, the under-seat option will be just fine. All the wires will disappear under the carpet pretty close to the amp, so nobody will be kicking them.

Very true.....I mounted my amp SIDEWAYS under the drivers seat....the connections for all the wires are on either end....no feets can touch anything in that areana.....

another thing I did....the little vent outlet under the seat? I cut that off right at the front and using high density foam (like koozies are made of) I blocked off that vent so that there will never be hot air coming out under that seat, and I don't care about anyones feet being warm in the back. :{D this also allowed me to mount the amp that much more forward....you have to get down on the floor and look under the seat to even see it.

after the wires come off of the amp they are all tyrapped together and go inside wire looms and the looms are taped up, and then routed IN FRONT of the amp....and away from any toes.....place ment is NOT going to be a problem for my set up....and the reason I put it under the seat is since MY setup is a 5 channel and not just an amp for the sup.....IF I had put the amp in the back....sure the wire for the sub would be shorter...but the wiring for all the other speakers would be nearly THREE times as long.

For this setup....under the seat in the fashion I mounted it was a very good compromise......I think I will take my seat out again and take pictures just so you can see how neat this install worked out.

Please do! Did you end up covering the mounting board? I was thinking maybe some of that spray-carpet stuff like is used on speaker cabs would be good.

NO....didn't cover the board....for he simple reason I didn't mount mine that way....I used the velcro method.

I was planning on doing this (taking pictures) tonight sometime....I am off work tonight....but I just found out the hard way that I may be changing out my altenator on my truck...grrrr.....I am hoping that its just a case of my battery finally just giving up.

Oh yeah, I forgot you're the velcro guy! Duh. I tell you, after experimenting with amp placement today, I'm considering that option again.

Who makes the smallest amps that are still great quality? I know from my music experience amp size can vary greatly depending on the class. The technology has really come along. Ten years ago I played a 400W amp that weighed 30 lbs. Now I run a 3000W amp that weighs 21 lbs!

Good luck on your truck.

The alpine Nuke used is extreamly small considering the power the little 5 channel holds. ALso the Xtants X series, the big stanless steal number are actualy tiny inside. THe amp itself it the same length as the cover but 2" less wide and only 1.75 inches high in one part and only .5 in the rest. You can easily hid them in a false floor. The smallest high power 4 channel and mono block I know is the JL 300/4 and 500/1 which are tiny considering there power. Each could fit under any seat.

Thanks for the tip, 1st MP3. I picked up a JL 300/4 off ebay, and it should be here by the weekend. It's significantly smaller than the Alpine MRV-F540 I bought, so it will give me more options with the under-seat install. Now I just have to sell the Alpine!

I'm going to see if I can't keep the vent under the seat, or at least part of it.

Okay....I saw another picture that someone took and realized I didn't need to take the seat OUT....just ran it all the way forward and had as good a shot at it as had I taken the seat out...SO....HERE IT IS. Nice and clean.

Looks great, Nuke! Thanks for posting it. I'm planning on using the same grounding point with mine.

make sure when you do that you take some sandpaper and scuff off the paint to ENSURE you have a good ground.

Definitely! I was planning using my Dremel and really getting a nice clean circle of bare metal around the hole.

The best thing for scraping paint for grounding is an encapsulated wire bruch that goes on a drill.
