most likely the battery is not holding a charge anymore. Use a multimeter to test the voltage before you start it, it should read 12volts. If not, it's a good sign it's bad. Once it's started it should read around 14volts. If so, you know the alternator is good, if it's below 14volts when running, check the alternator.
If you don't have access to a multimeter, Autozone and the like have free battery testing, but ya gotta remove it from the car.
