Canadian P5 speakers

Can someone post for once and for all, the stock Canadian P5 speakers' sizes. And please, don't answer with "I think"...I want an answer coming from someone that actually took them out...

Would the stock radio combined with an AMP, give out a decent sound quality ?

Thx, very much appreciated.....

THey are 5x7 and 6.5" rear
I have removed all four doors on my car at some point in time.

2nd question, yes, but not with the stock speakers. Your stockers would blow faster than a 16 year old boy in a ***** house.

Don't see any problem with the stock HU myself.

Stocker.

edit
realized I put down 5 1/4 instead of 6.5. Gotta stop drinking before work.

5x7 front
6.5 back

2" depth is safe i believe but i didn't do the install myself.

i left the stock HU, put in an amp and upgraded speakers and i like the improvement in sound. i don't need super high volume, i just wanted more clarity and more bass and this did it.

LOL...

I agree with the rest too. Upgrade your speakers and go with an amp, I'm sure the results will be worth it. It's what I plan on doing once I get some free time!

Gentlemen,

I have a P5 and am looking at upgrading the stereo a well. I see a lot of the keep the deck add an amp and better speakers as opposed to upgrade the deck and leave the speakers.

What's best?, I had a civic and put a new deck in and the sound was a 100 times better. Are the speakers in the P5 that bad?, who makes the Mazda deck?, kenwood, JVC, SONY, it's got to be one of them you would think.

I like many of you don't need to loosen any panels when I'm driving, I just want a clear sound that's got enough umph when I need it.

Suggestions/answers please and thanks!!

(Not owning a P5 ,I own the sedan) i really think that upgrading the speakers is a must.....I haven't seen the back speakers on the P5 but on the sedan they weren't even sealed properly....they had these huge gaps on the sides.....if you want decent bass then you have to make sure that air isn't leaking around to the front of the speakers like they were on my car....my pervious mazda was the same way too.....the back speakers looked to be put in as an afterthought......plus have you seen the speakers that they put in......they are total crap.......All i did was upgrade the speakers and add an amp and it made a huge difference.....I'd change the deck, if it wasn't for the huge gaping hole that it would leave underneath the aftermarket deck....I'm waiting to get enough time to design a thermoformed pocket to fit under a standard din radio so i can use that on my car......plus i have to convince my company to let me do it.....but once i do that.....then i'm ripping out that deck....currently i'm using the speaker level outputs and they aren't bad.....but it just doesn't sound as clean as my old aftermarket deck....

eltonr,

You can get kits that cost around $20.00 or less that cover up the hole in the dash when an after market deck is installed. They usual have a drawer for lack of a better term just uder the deck that will hold maybe 2 or 3 cd's or your sun glasses.

Either way it's probably easier and cheaper to do that than try and make your own.

Thanks for the speaker advice. I'll probably end up replacing both the deck and the speakers when all is said and done and getting a self powered 6 or 8 inch sub in the back. I don't like to eat up to much of my cars interior space with amps and stuff like that so the higher powered deck and self powered sub are my best options as it stands now.

yeah but most of the kits i have come across look like crap.........even that thing that mazda put in the mp3 looks like crap.....what i want to do is thermoform some carbon fiber looking material like that they have next to the radio......I think this will look alot more "factory" then what the factory puts out.....

I put 6.5 in all my doors, for the back, they fit like a glove for the front you will need a speaker mounting kit if you want to buy one, I think is like 20 CAD. You can use the kit to fit different size speakers.
