There are a bevey of questons that I would ask first, what kind of music, is the object SQ or SPL, how many watts, how much room willing to give up.
My friend Blue Ledz has a good list, I would only add DD to it, they are a good local company, and sponser one of my friends, so I gotta support them (I guess) and Stillwater Designs, another local outfit. I have like the look of Xtant subs, can't say I know a thing about the sound though...

I personally like the Infinity Perfect line, I upgraded from an MTX Black Gold which was a great sub. The Alpine Type-R subs are nice too along with the Image Dynamics IDQs.

I used to have some JL's so I respect them. They're pretty good. I reallylike the Xtant Hexagonal sub that I now have. The thing is tiny but the magnet is HUGE (102oz. and handles up to 500W). and it looks pimp with the brushed aluminum cone.

I am a fan of JL Audio, but I also like the Kicker Solo Barics alot and after seeing those Xtant's, I really like them. Has anyone heard those XTANT subs? Curious as to how the shape of them sounds?

I have 2 10" xtant x series subs and I think they sound great! I think they definitely sound better than my previous sub...a Image Dynamics IDQ v2.

hello all,

this is my first time ever posting or even reading about subs and audio stuff, so bear with me. my neighbor has offered me a JL 4W 12" sub for super cheap. $50! is this worth it, and what is an appropriate amp to go with it? also, would it be hard to just use the stock deck with this new sub? i know i don't want to use up too much cargo room, so i am going to build a box that fits right behind the wheel well area in the hatch. is this enough room for the sub to move air? and one more question... where should the amp go? is it smart to have the amp live on the box? thanks in advance!
