Hes right, I checked out metra website, the 70-7901 is for the older mazdas it the 2 piece, I dont think they make an into radio version for the new cars only the into car. 70-7902 sounds right for the into car. the into dash would be 71-7902 but like I said I don't think they make it yet.

well that is where I got those numbers...and saw pictures of the plugs...

anyway I gave the numbers to my friend and told him to VERIFY that they were for my year and model.....hope he didn't just outright order them without checking...and just to be sure I called and left a message for him at work.

I also had those OTHER numbers and a shop up in houston has them.....one way or another I will get this done! lol

the site I eventually found the metra numbers off of list those part numbers for 2001-2002 applications. and I saw the others the BHA 7902 AND BHO 7902 on another....

I will keep you guys posted...and EVENTUALLY get the absolutely correct numbers up here. so just hang tight.

Another route is to get a Scosche harness.

Into radio: MA03R
Into car: MA03

Does Metra have a Web site?

I just got off the phone with Scosche Sales and Tech support. 1-800-363-4490. The main and reverse harnesses can be ordered directly from them. MA03-$12.95 MA03R-$14.95 plus $8.00 shipping (ground, I assume). They couldn't give the names of any local dealers for me because my region's sales rep was not in the building but they did tell me that Walmart and/or Circuit City could order these also and thus avoid the shipping costs (and possibly offer a better price?)

the friend I mentioned before called Metra today....and CONFIRMED the part numbers for our cars for the 2001-2002 anyway....the part numbers are

71-7903 and 70-7903 and of course they are BACKORDERED!!!!

I just dropped the local shop that has those other part numbers on THEIR site to see if they have them in stock....and MAYBE I will get up there and actually put my eyes on them and possitively verify whether or not they are the right parts.....

course NO ONE around here carries scosche except Wal-mart carries SOME of their adapters.....and I doubt that they would special order anything for me.....but it wouldn't hurt to ask I guess...all I need is some time off during the day to get there.

Damn, a new dilemma

Well my upgrade path started out with new speaks, Infinity reference (not components). A great improvement. Dynamatted the doors and padded the inside of the door panels. Even better, tighter bass and raised the soundstage. My next move (I thought) was a higher powered HU. Looked at just about every thing and was impressed with the Pioneer line. Now I don't need the flashy stuff like MP3 and swimming dolphins, just want a simple deck with more power and sound tailoring features. The only thing was nothing had red or amber illumination and appearance is important to me along with decent sound, so I started on the path of amping the stock unit. Learning that WalMart carries and can order the Scosche harnesses I needed I went over there and took a walk down the car audio ailse and what do I see...

A Walmart exclusive Pioneer HU, DEH-P44. It appears to be the DEH-P4400 with red illumination! Mosfet 50 power and all the EQ stuff of the higher models. This would look good and hopefully be powerful enough to clean up the sound more than where I'm at now. It's got 2 2 volt pre outs if I wanted to amp later. Anyhow just wondering if any one wanted to chime in with an opinion. If I go with an amp it would be the JBL P80.4 and I've got about $200-250 to spend on this. TIA

You can't go wrong with Pioneer HUs (even with the budget models)! Can't say the same for Sony and Jensen though (also sold in Walmart)

well the saga continues for the persuit of the wiring harnesses...

the local shop that CARRIES them only had the one that plugs into the cars harness and not the one that plugs into the stock deck...but they can order it....but couldn't tell me for sure that it wouldn't be backordered when they contacted their supplier.....

so I called the 1-800 number to scosche and did in fact absolutely verify that part numbers that are floating around ( MA-03 and MA-03R) are in fact the correct ones....but I couldn't order them...only their tech support is open on the weekends....I will call them monday....and verify they are in stock...and get them in the mail if possible.

The standard plug is a part easy enough to pick up, but the reverse is the hard one to find. Like you SirNuke, I had to order them to get em, but trust me, they do really exsist, I have used a couple now!

yep your right dave....and if I call Scosche monday and THEY tell me that the reverse is not available at this time....well....I just don't know what I will do at that time....depends on how long I am going to have to wait.....

Wish I knew where there was a totalled 2001-2002......could just pull the deck and cut the FACTORY harness off and I got what I need.

Nope, that's the one that's "easy" to find. The hard one is the reverse harness (looks like the thing that one would plug into).

update on the hunt.....well NOW I KNOW all the correct part numbers for all the wiring harness I want/need to do the job like I want...but NO ONE HAS THEM....I called the 1-800 number posted earlier...but the only way you can order from that number is if you are a business and have an account set up with them....this is getting to be a real pain in the ***...I WANT MY TUNES!!!!!

my last shot is to go to Wal-mart and have the manager of the auto parts department special order them for me...seems that walmart is the local scosche distributor...well today when I went in there they looked at me like I was from mars or something and told me that they don't special order stuff....well of course I was talking to some peeon...and after a few phone calls they said I could...but would have to talk to the manager....that she did all the ordering...and she is off tomorrow....and they don't know what her next work day is....omfg.....I am about an inch away from just saying screw it and cutting the speaker wires in the harness and getting it done.
