I've been looking for someone who makes both sides (male & female) for the P5 but have only seen the female part. This would be great if I were replacing the HU, but I want the male side so I can plug that into the stock HU, do the connections and then plug the female into the car's harness without any cutting/splicing of the factory harness in the dash. Is this part available? How have you guys done it? TIA.
Scosche MA 03A and MA03B. This is what I have. There are a couple wires missing that you will have to add if you want to have the factory effects for the lighting, but otherwise I have had no issues with it.

Did you buy that harness online? I can't find it anywhere and the local shops have no idea what I'm talking about.

Yeah it's hard to find info on the net about these harnesses. Even the Scosche main site only lists up to MA02 for the '98-'00 models. However, if you check out their autosound encyclopedia http://www.scosche-cars.com/ they list the MA03 and the MA03R as the "main harness" and the "reverse harness" respectively. I think these are what I am looking for but I won't be able to check around the local shops until this weekend.

I ordered them through a shop here in Calgary that knew what they were talking about. The ones I have are MA 03A and MA 03B. The MA03 and MA03R may be a US notation, or I just may be stupid and I have MA03 and MA03R. Some people have been able to get a kit from Metra or Best I think on the web, but I have never searched online for them. Do a search in the forum on wiring harness to see if you get any more useful info.

From my experience, check out the local shops, and when you hit one that is willing to help you, you will be able to order the pieces.

Wish I could provide more help. The shop I went to is audio concepts in Calgary.

Installation accessories are hard to get in Canada. If I order the harness from sounddomain it'll cost me $20 just to ship it up alone. I've tried a couple local shops and one quote me $30. But on sounddomain it goes for $4.95....go figure.

BTW do u guys know any good shop in Toronto? Lots of them are big rips off....

I replaced the stock speakers with JBL's and the difference was incredible. No one mentioned that there are no real tweeters in the stocks and the cones are paper, so all the amping and subing in the world will not give you decent mids and highs. I tend to listen to vocals , jazz and some rock so the very low frequencies are not important to me. The stock head unit is ok, but the cd player is a little weak. Again amps and subs will not give "cleaner" music just louder. Hope this helps, it all depends what is important to YOU.

well looks like I am out of luck.....I called my local shop and they don't carry or deal in scoche but they recommended to me a shop in the next town down the road (45 miles). I called them up and they deal in METRA, not scoche....and after looking through some books....and probably realizing that I DO know what I am talking about and realizing that they were only looking to make a few bucks and not be able to BS me into getting something I didn't want....the politely told me that they couldn't help me...grrrrr. SO, if ANY of you (silver p5 owner) finds these things SOON, and they ARE in fact what we need to do this without cutting the factory harness.....PLEASE let me know.....give me the shops name and phone number where you got them....I will mail order them from them if need be....OF COURSE I was planning on doing this install this weekend (sunday night) but I may have to wait....grrrrrr

If the stock wires are long enough just cut them and use bullitts crimps using a good crimper. save the $30 and you'll be fine. Theres nothing wrong with sutting the stock wires if you do it right and neatly. Its these bone heads that cut the wires leae those not directly associated with the new deck bare, example dimmers, and just crappily tape the rest.

Nuke, excellent work. I did the phone runaround with about a dozen shops in my area looking for the Scosche parts. No-one around here seems to carry their stuff and all I got was bad info about anything from Best kits or Metra. There is one shop who deals in Scosche and they were going to find out if they could get those for me. As usual they never called back. It's nice to have the Metra #'s if these guys can't help me. Thanks for finding those. I see you are of similar thought to me in wanting to build the thing on a workbench and then just "plug it in". Does this mean you'll be able to do your install this weekend as you planned? Let us know how it comes out!

Nuke, you may want to check out this link... http://www.installer.com/cars/mazda/index.html . Those are the two piece plugs which were used up to model year 2000 Proteges. 2001-up use a larger single rectangular plug. See the red plug on the page "bha7902". That is the correct plug to go into the dash harness. You may want to double check with your buddy. It seems alot of installers books have bad info in them. (Much like this site lists those other numbers for '90 and up.) Sorry, hope I'm wrong.
