Exclamation Another Glow Question Please

A while ago my underglow kit wasn't working because of the cold weather I think. The day they didnt work was the day it snowed here in Delaware. I just tried them again yesterday (the snow is completely gone) and when I hit the switch I saw the lights go on for like a second and then shut off. As soon as I hit the switch the flash once then wont come on all the way. I left them on for about 30 minutes to warm up but nothing so then I was thinking could it be the fuse? I havent changed the fuse yet so do you guys think this could be it???

Thanks

If a fuse blew, they wouldn't turn on at all......

Nope - not the fuse.

I'd suspect the cold is to blame.

Neon works by electrically charging the gas inside the tube - the gas then glows.

Cold conditions would cause the gas to contract, and I would think that if it is cold enough, it would change the properties of the neon gas to the point where it needs more electricity to get glowing, or maybe it wouldn't even glow at all. Now - I'm no chemist or physicist, but it seems logical that the cold would have such an effect on a neon tube - especially cheaper ones (which nearly ALL undercar neons are - they are not made to the same specs as neon signs, especially exterior ones).

See if you can warm it up (garage, maybe?) and see if it works again.

actaully this is somewhat true becuase my neon frame is kinda dim when its really really cold out but after a while when it warms up, the brightness goes back to normal
