Amp Location in P5

OK, so I wanted to know where people have been mounting their aftermarket amp in their P5's. There are two locations that seem reasonable to me:

[1] Under one of the front seats. Reduces cable run, but there's all that ductwork under the seats. Did you block that ductwork or what?

[2] In the trunk. Longer wire runs, and sort of defeats the wagon/hatchback functionality.

Where'd you put yours? Post pics, too, if you'd be so kind...

I put mine in the trunk because it was too big to fit under the seat. Plus it added to the setup I did.

Old picture, but you get the idea:

The amp actually has a glass cover over the center portion that says McIntosh.

I put mine on the back of the seat and ran all the wires behind the carpet. I will post a better pic tonight when I take it.

I've got everything stowed away in the hatch area - I made an amp rack that attaches to the seatbacks (one piece of MDF covered w/vinyl). All the wires run behind it - makes for a clean install. I even used the child-seat hooks to attach the board (yellow straps). Sorry the pics are so big. If they don't show, just right click and hit "show picture" - it usually works.

And it is space efficient, too!

I had my amps under the seats, I would suggest using a special type of screw with a special marking that uses a key to remove the screw, ... so it makes it harder for the thieves to get ur stuff

There's more room under those seats than I realized, even with the duct work there--I think my amp will fit there just great... Thanks for all the awesome pics!

Oh, yeah, now that mine's done, I should post a pic:

http://byrneweb.com/sunburn/newcar/2002_06_14amp.jpg

That's with the front passenger seat slid all the way forward. In a more normal position with the rear floor mat in place, you really can't see the amp at all.

I have mine under the seat to save trunk space. Bruce, was it that easy for the thieves to steal your amp from under the seat? I figured it would make it harder than just sitting in the trunk somewhere.

Lightbulb

I have two soundstream tarantula 2000/1 amps in my hatch area attatched to the back of the seats with the wiring running under the seats carpeting so it is invisible. Incased on both sides of my amps are 2 - 6" wireless ruby red neon tubes to add a little class.
Reason for putting them in the back rather than under the seat - much better show appearance!
