Question aluminum pedals

Maybe this is a stupid question, but i'll ask anway. If you get the pedals, like Sparco, that are the drill and bolt type, how do you drill the gas pedal into the existing plastic pedal that is shaped odd? That is my big question. Is it hard to drill them? I don't want to ruin my pedals..lol.

Thanks
