I really want aluminum pedals, but don't want to pay the $99.00 from the Mazdausa website. What brand of pedals will fit the protege5? I am looking either for pedals that slip over the rubber or ones that replace the rubber entirely.

ya i got those petals...had to drill threw the petals to install them

 

I have Reactive pedals but I had to drill out the gas pedal. They look great though. They cost me $30 Canadian, that is $5 American, lol

 

where would one purchase such cheap petals....?

cheap pedals, however, are available at most auto part stores.

 

i had the dealer install before i took delivery. cost $45 CAN i think. not sure what kind they are but they feel great.

i've never personally been a huge fan of procarparts.com but www.nopionline.com has some stuff, but I didn't check to see if they had pedals or not...

 

Yeah there's tons of sites out there that will have these style pedals. I'm just throwing out some suggestions. I have a pair of pedal covers I got from procarparts that I got for $20 including shipping, were really easy to install, look great, and have worked great for me.

 

How do pedal covers install, and how can I distinguish them from regular pedals? I an interested in getting something like this but know nothing about them and would like something that is very easy for me to install (not very mechanically sauvy).

 

Gaspo, it looks from the pics of your ride that you already have 'em. Nice & clean so far. There's a pic of the Mazda accessory pedals in their performance catalog (available as an Acrobat file on the Mazda US website). They're alright.

I personally like Sparco pedals, but you have to drill them in (a real pain, inside the footwells). MOMO's are nice, too, but a bit funky-looking lately. Try:

Cheaper clip-on types are all over the place. Check any "Tuner" magazine.

 

I just got the sparco grips, ultraperformance has them for $35, they advertise in sportcompact. The rubber grip pieces are a pain in the *** to get in and be careful if you use a small screwdriver to put in the rubber pieces not to scracth the metal ( i have small not to noticable scrathes around 2 or 3 of the rubber pieces, I never fully installed the pedals yet, started tonight got the clucth and brake in and then found out that p5 gas pedal is too thick for screws that sparco sends so i will be making a run to the hardware store on saturday to get longer ones, other than that no real problems, be careful to make sure you miss the arms that the pedal is welded to so you don't try drilling through it. i'll be posting pics of my pedals installed hopefully sat. or sunday

 

Tell me about it. Those Sparco pedals are a BITC# to put together with those little rubber bits. Definintely use a small flathead screwdriver to force those guys into the holes (all 27)!!
