Again: Model numbers for pockets on MP5
Ok, ive read those other two posts about the pockets for the MP5, but i erally cant get anywhere. I seriously went to like 6 different shops today looking for a pocket. SHould i just get a Universal one? what are the model numbers for pockets made by Metra and Socshe or whatever? i have my head unit and harness and im DYING to get it in. Sorry, please dont flame, just wanna get a pocket, hah. im sooo close.
Also, there was a Universal pocket at circut city but i wasnt sure if it would fit and didnt want to buy it cuz i couldnt return it once i opened the package. how do i know if the "universal pocket" fits. Im assuming it would fit anything hence the word "universal"

It's just a simple, single DIN pocket. No one ever made a pocket specifically for a protege, I think. Dash kit yes, pocket no. A universal one will be fine, as long as it is single DIN in size.

If you are not looking for the new dash KIT, (and I've said this before ------------->), go to a shop and talk to AN INSTALLER NOT A SALESPERSON - salespeople usually have no phucking idea about installs - I can guarantee that the installer(s) have tons of universal pockets sitting around. That's how I got mine, after finding NOTHING at 4 shops - finally got to an installer and he just gave me one. Go around the building to the install bay, if you have to - sometimes ******** in the shops won't want you to go in the back, so bypass them.
You can also order the pocket from the MP3, which is real nice-looking - I'm still trying to justify spending the $70 or so they get for it - I'm sure I'll find some ridiculous reason to spring for one though.

I got my scosche kit installed last night, and I will post the pics of the install in a seperate thread later today. I would strongly urge you to wait until you se the pics before you make up your mind on which kit you want.

thanks everyone soo much for all the feedback. I got a universal pocket by metra and installed it. Its pretty nice. The head unit is a tad bit loose but secure enough. I didnt get a kit, just a BEST harness from autosoundgear.com. Thanks everyone again. Ill post pics if someone wants me too, but im not going to otherwise, we all know what a head unit looks like right? heh. but the pics helped me before, so if it will help anyone, then ill post. ok. thanks guys...

that is the link to the kit that I have in my dash. It works great and has 3 cd case slots.

Yep.. then I went on to actually find a place that sells it!
http://www.partsexpress.com
simply search for 88-00-9000 on that site.. I'm gonna go ahead and order this unless someone can find a pocket or whatever that will work better/cheaper..
I have a kenwood 8017 (it owns, btw) and a p5
thanx in advance
