Adapter 5x7 -> 6.5"

Here's a cad-drawing I made of 3rd gen front door speaker adapter if anyone needs it. If you want the original cad image, let me know, it's much more better quality. Here's the image

edit: all measures are millimeters
edit2: that crappy server seems to be down every now and then so if the image doesn't appear, try later

edit3: Changed server, click the link and then refresh the page and it works

Gotta cut&paste into the address bar...

Now the original link (/server) works again so no need to copy&paste.

That link points to a 6X8 adapter plate, not a 5X7 plate... So no, you can't just buy it there anyway...

5x7 and 6x8 are the same

And why can't you buy it there? Just cuz it doesn't have online buy options?? Call the store up... the laziness is amazing.

I used the scosche adapter when I installed my 6.5" speakers. It works great.

Dermen,

What kind of speakers did you install with these adapters?

Has anyone else used them??

That seems like a nice setup! So, according to your observations, if I were to use that 6x8 plate adapter I'd probably have to cut the door panel to clear the tweeter? If that's the case, I'll probably just buy a new pair of 6.5s rather than mess with my components.

Thanks!!

I meant you can't buy the 5X7 there.

5X7 and 6X8 are the same? Trippy world of car audio where 2+2=5...

Well of cource man can buy almost everything but sometimes self made product gives the best feeling.

5x7" & 6x8" _adapters_ are the same because they've got bolt holes for both measures (5x7 and 6x8) and this doesn't mean that there is something wrong with car audio math

I installed 6.5" blaupunkt components. I just attached the plate to the speakers, then I attached the stock drip guard to the plate. Then it all mounted up to the stock holes perfectly.

However, there is a 5X7 oval on the door panel that sticks out about an inch. I trimmed off the top and bottom of the oval to make sure that it didn't touch the speaker. I'm not sure if it was necessary but I wanted to be sure.

lol... keep replying... I love watching you make a fool out of yourself. If you'd read that other post where I posted a link, you'll see that someone used THAT SAME 6 x 8" ADAPTER PLATE because it has 5 x 7" holes in it!

OMFG... what a ******* concept... read everything and do some research before posting.

Happy to amuse you if this is all it takes.

I had no idea about 5X7 plates having 6X8 mounting holes. I figured that someone would explain how it works, and bougha was nice enough to do so.

I'm not sure why that bothers you, but that is your issue, not mine.
