6x9s in a P5's "rear deck"???
I'm getting a 323 hatchback (aka, P5) and I already have some parts of my audio system, I had 6x9 as rear fill in my old Galant, but I know that the P5 has the rear speakers on the doors and that they're round (6x25 or sumthin like that) the thing is that I really want to use these(sp) speakers in my new car. Has anyone made holes in the cargo cover thing to put speakers in there? I've seen many installs like that on other hatchback cars (not mazdas), has anyone done it?

Yes, I'm putting in a JL 12" w0 in the back, but having space in my trunk is really important to me and the box for the sub will already be taking enough of it. Also, there's something about putting speakers in kickpanels inside the runk that makes it look kinda getto...IMO. I also might add another sub down the road.
You think that the cargo cover can't handle the weight of the speakers?

One of the main drawbacks of putting them on the rear cargo deck would be that it would draw alot of the sound towards the rear of the car. On my wife's 240sx and on my old Dodge Omni which had rear deck speakers cut out like you want to do, it sounded like all my music was from the rear.

that rear "deck" is really not a great place for anything. in fact, mounting the 6x9's in or on that removeable rear deck would look somewhat ghetto, imo.
i would use the sub and just ditch the 6x9's. i know you really wanted to use them, and i'm sure if you put the time and money into it you could find a place for it, but i would say just sell them and just run the jl 12.

I was also concerned about safety issues, during a car accident the whole deck might come off and hit someone (maybe me! ) The thing is that I got those speakers really cheap (like 82$ new) and I like them very much, as for them drawing all the sound to the rear I doubt it cuz I will have a set of JL components on the front (XR-525-cs) and they sound pretty god and loud .
but selling them could be an option, what's the size of the rear door openings?
thanx.
