OK guys ....need your help....

Everyday for the last two months or so I have been thinking...
"should I get 16" rims or 17" rims" ....
I just can't make up my mind.....

I know that 17" will slow me down, a bit, and I would have to be much more carefull driving, but they would look better and would go with the clean look that I want......
I don't care about the price difference, as long as I decide .....
Originally I was going to buy the 16", but then I went with the 17"
**** .....this is like the hardest decision ever......damn it....
I am going to be ordering the rims this or the latest next week so I gotta make up my mind really fast...........
will I have problems with my stock suspention ???
or will it just look gay and I would have to modify the suspention as well.....??

Any input and helpfull info would be greatly appreciated.....

and the other thing .....+38mm offset will be ok for my first gen Pro right ??

17's all the way why would you have to drive much more careful with 17's? i got 17's on my ride, and drive like crazy... i'm pretty sure wil does too. (drive crazy that is). you'll be happier in the end with 17's IMO. I was gonna get 16's... but am really happy I went 17 instead.

I have that same problem only I can't decide between 17" or 18". The only deciding factor for me may be tire price. They will both look tight I'm sure.

got a question for you..........how is acceleration now with the 17" rims ??? .....did they slow you down a lot, or was it nothing major?

yeah but I am guessing that 15's are better for AutoX ....
I don't have to worry about that ......yet.....

the acceleration was slowed a bit, but not really too much surprisingly. it still gets up there pretty quick. so, the 17's didn't hurt it. of course, i own a third gen.. i think you said yours is a first... so jesse or wil would be the better people to ask about that.

there are TWO factors that will come into play as to whether or not it will slow you down going to the different size wheel/tires....one is their weight.....if you maintain the weigth of the wheel/tire combination at the same or less...it won't effect you at all....if the wheel/tire combo weighs MORE...then it will take more power to roll them....thus slowing you down...

the second factor is the Diameter of the tire.....IF the wheel/tire combo you select is SMALLER.....then your tire has to roll FARTHER to cover the same distance.....if its LARGER....it rolls LESS to cover the same distance....this too will effect your accuracy of your speedometer too.

SO, if you want to go to the 16's OR 17's....the best advice is to keep the NEW wheel/tire combination absolutely as close or LIGHTER than the 15's.....and maintain the Tire Diameter as close to stock as possible. ANY reputable tire shop can tell you what the diameter of ANY time size is....you just have to ask.

Yes, please ask I'm here for ya. Need to know your stock tire size. Just read it off to me. Then I'll point you to a tire calculator so you can do this stuff on your own.

There's enough tire selection that you will be within spec in either size.

Weigh your tire and wheel for me to if you don't mind. I'd like to keep that as a baseline.

Going for lightweight and light budget will severely limit your options, but functionality with a slight aesthetic sacrifice is fine with me.

I am going for the Team Dynamics 'Motorsport' wheels....
you said that they were pretty lightweight ......
I am not sure of the tire size, but I'll check tomorrow morning and I'll let you know.......
the best price I found the wheels for (no tires) is:
16" : $ 150 per wheel
17" : $ 176 per wheel

Is that a reasonable price ???

What about rotating mass?? If two wheels have the same wight but one has more of the mass on the outside edge of the rim then it takes more force to rotate the rim.

For example if you took an open umbrella and put a weight on the handle and rotated it, and then put the weight on the outside edge of the umbrella and rotated it. It would be more difficult to rotate the one with the weight on the outside edge.

Unless my phisics is all screwed up.

Bumble G...that is ALSO correct.....very correct.....so the DESIGN of the new wheel will also effect whether or not you will be slower or quicker as well.
