Talking 151 db!!!

Just got home from my first db drag. I was runner-up in my class, but in my run in the semi-finals I put out a whopping 151.0 db!! I was completely shocked. That run would have been good enough to be runner-up in the class above me. Unfortunately, I fiddled with my amp before the final run so I only put out 149 db. Still not bad for two 12s running off one 800W amp. I guess the guys at the sound shop were right to invite me out to compete. I went home with a trophy, and a smile on my face. Oh and by the way I blasted out 151 db with equipment that is all two years old!! One conclusion: The P5 is a sweet setup for SPL.

I am running Rockford HX2 DVC subs off a Punch 800a2 amplifier. I did not install it myself, thank God, because I ended up having an alternator noise problem on my 4 channel that had the install guys at my shop pulling out their hair for 2 days. The system used to be in my old Dodge Shadow, but wasn't nearly as loud. The subs are just in a basic ported enclosure that fires out the back, nothing special. This db drag was local, put on by the shop. It falls right before "Cruise Weekend" in which approx. 1000 classic autos are on display on the downtown streets, so there were a couple guys from out of town.

Punch HX2. 1000W max power, santoprene surround, lots of other features I can't remember because the manual is in the box which is burried under other boxes. Still damn good subs. Used to make my old Clarion ProAudio hu skip when you cranked it up in the Shadow.

RF

I have one rockford Punch HX2 12 and a 360a.2 amp running it. Mine has hit 149 with just one.

Best Buy doesn't sell anything higher than the HE models. No HX's at all.

Don't forget to use your concealing gasket

That's one of the great things about the P5 its a little wagon so it only has a small air space to pressurize but its built stiff and tight so just about anything can be realy F-ING LOUD.

I would love to see an expert P5 db monster 10000 watt class, perhaps 12 12" subs should be a good start.

sounds a little too good, kind of like that matts van that spiked the spl mics with a voltage shock to send it to over 170.

Are those setups in a P5?
