02 Pro DX instrument cluster swap--mileage problems

Anyone with any knowledge of this topic would be greatly appreciated. I drive a 02 Pro DX and my instrument cluster does not come with a tachometer. I won an auction on EBAY for a cluster out of a 01 Pro LX. I installed it and the mileage shows what the 01 had but the tachometer, speedo, gas, and temp gauge worked great. I uninstalled it and am waiting to find out how to change the mileage back to where it should be. Do I need to contact the dealer and explain? Or is there another way to change it back.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!

I think the dealer can reprogram the mileage in your replacement cluster. They do it on new clusters they install under warranty.

do you guys get the digital readouts for your mileage or not? if not, they can always run up the mileage to about where you were at last, as new clusters will come with a reading of zero (if your numbers are analog and not digital). unfortuneatly, an analog cluster usually has a built in mechanism where mileage will cannot be rolled back or the dials will be cleared completely if you try and 'roll' the mileage back. at any route you decide to go, it will void your warranty, and any repair on the cluster is not going to be covered under any warranty may cost you a great deal of money. if left unadjusted, it will grossly affect your resale value on the car.. unless you have a manual trans, i'd just chince back and put your dx cluster back in. even if you do have a manual and have an absolute need for a tachometer, just throw an aftermarket tach on.. fairly easy and just as effective.
peace

Yeah, the readout is digital. So I will just wait till the mileage is pretty close or exact before I install it in my Pro. I did call Mazda and they told me that I would have to order a new one for $375 to get it with the mileage I have now. Screw that (too much money)! Thanks for your replies, I appreciate your information.
