This is my 1st., post!!! I hope I can find both parts and info for my car....
By the way I am female and know some things about this mazda, as I have been having some problems with it.

This is the story; I got stuck in a snow storm 4 days ago and tried to get out of the snow bank, as i did not have help... i was rocking the car between drive and reverse, i got out but think i screwed the tranny or something.

My HOLD Button wil no longer work ( it workedf fine before getting stuck) and the HOLD light is blinking as well and the all the gears work, EXCEPT drive and LOW feel the same.. I canot feel any difference, which means I am more than likely driving in LOW.....

WHat would cause this, from what the snow> I have already disconnected the battery cabels and tried pushing the hold button in every gear, nothing has worked. The HOLD button, will no longer stay in, when its in it means I am holding the tranny).

Anyhow, lets say its the solenoid, what kind of job is this and what are the parts going to cost me?
Lets say its the shifter, again whats that going to cost me in parts and labour, any idea?

IS there anything I can do myself, to try and save some labour chanrges, Money is tight right now, as I need the car to work and have not worked since last weekend, which was a lozy weekend anyhow.....
PLEASE HELP.... HAS ANY MEMER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING THE SAME AND OR HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE HOLD BUTTON???
