I am the only Protege driver who did the entire series (although I missed two events).

I ended up 5th in Novices, 5th in Class B1, and 36th Overall.

Not great results but I was tire impared for most of the season and then couldn't really get into it for the last couple of events ... too many other distractions at the time.

We'll see how next season goes! As there are now at least two other guys wanting to run the Regional series with me .. and we might be able to get a discount on 15" r-compound tires...

There may be some big changes in the rules and classifications for next year .. just have to wait and see how it turns out.

not bad man..

actually, im also considering running the regional series next year...

i went to the event at the hersey centre on july 14
it was lots of fun

the only thing for me was that after turn one, i kept getting confused and id go off course
so 3 out of my 4 runs were scrapped because of that

and the only run that they counted happened to be the run where i downshifted into first and locked up the wheels, and slid into 4 pylons at the last corner, right before the timing box ended

so they added 8 seconds onto my time
i should have had a 46 second run, but i got a 54 second run because of penalties

before u think im an idiot, i should let u know it was my first time ever autocrossing

but anywho, i am also considering running the regionals next year also

is it at the regionals where u get the 2 second bonus if u dont have r compound tires?

also, were you there at the july 4th meet at the hersey centre??

Yeah I was probably at that meet .. maybe? I drive the silver p5.
Don't worry too much about the off courses at PITL events . they always have at least one confusing section of their courses. Not like they count for real points anyway

Having more pros in the Regional series next year would be super fun...

About the tires ... currently, if you run street tires you get 2% bonus .. which isn't usually enough anyway. But there is talk about not having a street tire bonus anymore next year .. although maybe a separate class similar to SCCA.

R-compounds aren't really much more expensive than good street tires to begin with and if you just use them for events, then they should last a couple seasons of autocrossing.

I didn't do any Solo I this year although I would really like to, and I know that there are other people in toprotege who would like to get into that stuff more than autocrossing .. it is quite a bit more expensive though. Of course, there seems to be more exposure and sponsorship opportunities at the same time.

From the sounds of things, some of the main competition in B1 class will be moving up for next season .. have to wait and see.

the thing is that i do not have rims to put r-compound tires onto...
what rims are you guys using??

there was a silver P5 at the pittl meet, but im not sure if it was u...
do u remember my car at all?
(the brown 2nd gen, with a wing)

if i decide to do the regional series, i think the only mod that im going to do for the next season is a rear sway bar
my car understeers too much

for the solo 1, i really want to do that..
more exposure, as well as its closer to club racing

im not too sure, but dont you need rollover protection for solo 1??

i was in the b modified class at the pttl event
is there any class higher than that? cause i dont want to modify my car and end up pushing myself further up...

That silver p5 was me .. the only other p5s that have been to autox events are red (2) and yellow (1). Plus a few sedans... I think I remember seeing your car that day.

PITL classes don't follow regional rules at all .. they're almost subjective so don't go by your classing at their events.

If you check out http://soloontario.com/solo2/ or http://www.casc.on.ca/ you should be able to find a copy of the rules for this season in pdf.

The Solo 1 and Solo 2 classifying rules are different though (plus Solo 1 has no street tire bonus).

I don't have any rims yet .. still considering a few options. Also need to look into how many tires we'd have to buy to get any kind of a reasonable discount.

let me know when you find out about the tires..

do you need rollover protection for solo 1?
and some sort of license?
and to be part of a CASC-OR affiliated car club?

i read that somewhere earlier this year...
