Post calling PROTEGE OWNER (stearing wheel)

Hi to all

I have a problem with my PROTEGE 1999 and I want to know if any have the same problem.

I bought a PROTEGE (not rented) at DELISLE Mazda in Montreal. Lately I`ve notice that the stearing wheel is aging rather fast. What I mean by that is :

The stearing wheel is a light gray. After 2 years and less than 40 000 km, the light gray coathing is breaking up where I often put my hands on it. Ive seen my dealer and here is the answer I`ve got from him :

Well the stearing wheel still works ? yes ? than if it is only for the look we do not change it. Now have a good day.

HEY !!! I didn`t rent that car I BOUGHT IT !!! what .. if it was the body of my car that would rust they`ll ask if the car is running ? if yes have a nice day ?

SO I`m looking for other PROTEGE owner that has the same problem so we can, together take action against MAZDA. Number will be our strenght.

please write to me at : mariepaule@danjou.as

Talk to Mazda Canada

Hey... yeah I would call Mazda directly!

Tell them your issues.. about the steering wheel fading.. and the dealer not wanting to help you out!

You'll get further if you talk to the head office....

Customer service is supposed to be number one, so they should be able to do something for you!

Well, I have a full black leather wrap on mine steering wheel and shift-boot. The leather does add thickness (circumference) to the grip. It feels great when I'm driving. Couldn't tell you whether it faded or not. My guesses are; you've cleaned your steering wheel with bad stuff (chemical); your 'dirty' hands subsequently worn it out; excessive sun exposure (uv ray). If nothing goes well with your complaint, I would recommend cover it up with steering wheel cover (prefertly leather wrap), ($20-$80).

00-pro-lx, touring pkg., black, 5-speed, tints, fogs, clear lights, lowered, meshes, alum. int., & more, spicy looking.
