They are basically adjustible springs made by Eibach. I think you can manually adjust them anywhere from 1.5-3.0 inches. I might be a little off, sorry. But thats basically it i guess.

Ground Control is a company that makes adjustable suspension components. The springs they use are made by eibach. To adjust them you use a wrench to lower the perch. I would think its a pain in the *** and to be honest other than at a show when are you gonna lower 'em? Definetly not every time you pull into the driveway.....If you look in the back of Sport Compact Car the ad on last page is usually theirs....its the one with the goofy *** lookin kid with his hand in the wheel well.

Gentlemen, the information is almost complete but not quite,
Ground Control has devised a make shift way of creating a coilover kit. The downside is that you change the adequate preloading of the spring when raisin or lowering it, hence the helper springs.
GC's claim to fame is that they do not require the use of a wrench to raise or lower the perch. All you need to do is unload the spring, jack the corner off the ground, and start turning the collar.
GC's are good if not lowered too much, the problem with guys buying them to slam their vehicles is the severe reduction in travel that the piston has. This is why a true coilover will have its' shock body fully threaded, along with a shorter stroke. However if you corner weight the vehicle and have just the right preloading of the spring, you can get some really good handling. I
If you want to slam your car, you should get it corner weighted and tell the dude where you want your car to sit. He can then, tell you what spring rates to ask for when purchasing the GC's. As what they reccommend may not be suitable for the position you daily drive the GC's in.
When corner weighting they take your total vehicles weight at each corner, then determine the weight distribution, from that and a couple more variables you can either determing spring rates to use or the desired preloading of the spring.
There's a lot more **** too, but it's Friday and I'm chillin' now. Those are some basics.
If you can't afford the real ones, then I'd say GC's are a decent way to go, but nowhere near what true coilovers would do to your handling.
