Weird brake question

I have a 2000 Protege LX. When I back up, I get a fairly loud squeaking sound from my brakes. I don't get any sound at all from the brakes when I'm going forward, only when I'm in reverse. No grinding, clunking, etc., just the squeaking. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

How many miles on the car? I hate to say this, but that kind of sounds like it could be a CV joint.
