yah, i do plan on getting new shocks when my stockers are blown, so i guess im okay for now. i just noticed on one of
the other guy's 21.5mm bar install that he left out one or 2
of the centering washers between the slider halves...im
assuming he had the same problem. im going to go to
home depot tomorrow to see if i can find a hard rubber washer
and use it instead. im kinda worried that the way i have it
now the slider half may break.

 

managed to find some bushings for my RC car that fit the slider halves endlink bolt perfectly. so my endlink is bolted to
both halves as it should.

the large bushing i used was a bushing off of a tamiya RC car's
front knuckle. hahahaha.

 

AWR makes two different 19mm bars. The one that I have (with the 2 settings) and a new bar with the infinitely adjustable end links. (just like the 21mm)

 

arkos- thanx for the info. that's what i thought.

the 19mm bar comes with endlink balljoint cone spacers which i
believe are for the 21.5mm bar. hope to hear back from Tony
at AWR today so that i can get the right cone spacers...not that
i need it anymore but want to confirm for you guys that there
should be thinner version for the 19mm fully adjustable bar.

this bar is a great hopup. i can take sharper than 90degree
turns without having to worry about body roll... and its not
so stiff that the rear tries to swing out. just enough roll.
feels real good.

 

I've got the 19mm adjustable bar, and my slider slides off, I wrote Tony, and he is sending some "bushings that go between
the slider and rod end. the slider should close up tight to the sway bar." I guess I'll wait and see.

 

yep, the ones that came with mine were too thick.. the bushings
im using right now are about 17mm outer diameter 12mm
inter diameter and about 3mm thick. im using one on
each side of the ball joint of the endlink bolt (total 4pcs).

the outer diameter clears the ball part of the endlink joint
so it does not rub against it or anything. no squeeks either.

I used to own a Kyosho 1/10th gas buggy that i upgraded with an O.S. .12 cubic inch CZ engine and revised gearbox. It was clocked at 81mph (NOT scale speed) on 20% nitromethane fuel...I miss that thing, I sold it when I turned 16 to help pay for insurance...A couple of friends and I were heavily into it in our youth, and I actually learned a lot of crap about car handling through that thing...

 

yeh, im more of an electric kind guy racing every weekend
when i lived out in LA a few years back. i was racing with BarryBaker (he kicked my ***) and the other Tamiya, HPI, and
Yokomo queens. actually i was about to get hired by HPI when
i decided to move back to chi-town and sell parts for real cars.
i know the cheif engineer at HPI well. he's a great guy and
im a HPI kinda guy. hahaha well, i dont RC too much now
cause i dont like indoor tracks that much and most chicago
tracks are indoors and small. there's a place called AJ's which
is an awesome huge indoor track out in dekalb, IL. AJ's a real
cool gentleman... i might start going there again later on since
i got a sh't load of tires and parts to use up.

i have a modded supernitro Toyota lemans car too. nitros are
cool...and yah, 81mph is believable!! my electric running
a 9turn i put together and tuned was running about 60-65mph.
the radar gun we were using was having problems clocking
the cars low to the ground.

 

Wow, I was always impressed with how fast the electric cars could go too. I was mostly into off road racing. About 30 miles from my old house was a giant outdoor track in Philipsburg PA. It was awesome, the biggest problem with some of the guys that raced there was there inadequate radio's that coudln't handle the range! It was that big. I did however get my *** handed to me most of the time. I had some upgrades like a MIP tuned pipe, CVD's as opposed to the stock dog bones, an army of different wheels and tires and pinion gears (which by the way I never used that pinion to reach the 81mph on the track, that was just for a drag race against a 1/8th scale Inferno MP5, which still murdered me clocking a little over 90mph) and some extra chassis's and various parts. When I sold it the engine was in dire straights for a new piston and sleeve, so where ever it is its not in good shape I would imagine. the drag race took place at an old real drag strip, that had closed. And the equipment used to test the cars involved was from R/C Car Action, one of the bigger magazines...I recieved second place top speed in the 1/10th scale Top Speed amateur modified class. I was beat by a little over half a mph from a dude with RC10 GT truck, which had a much larger aftermarket. I should try to find the mag that we were in, I could scan it and email you the write up...We only tested top speed, but the race took place over a 1/4mile range, and the highest recorded speed over the entire strip was recored. I know the inferno would have beat my P5 in the quarter mile. Imagine that, getting toasted by a little 4wd R/C Car!!

 

A follow up post, the guy with that inferno claimed he ran the quarter mile in less than 13' seconds...with a .21 cubic inch engine creating a little over 3hp at 34,000 rpm...figuring a 21lb car: power to weight ratio of a little less than 7lb/bhp, it would be possible with the right gearing...

that's cool, offroad is real fun too..just the mess you need to
clean afterwards. hahahaha.

getting back to the swaybar, Tony AWR hasnt gotten back
to me about the thinner bushing... man, this guy is asking for
trouble so is mitch. i dont think im going to be supporting them
with any business in the future or make any recommendations.

sure the 19mm adjustable AWR bar work with the help of RC car parts, but without it the bar will NOT work!!!

 

Tony told me he is sending a set of the spacers to me in the mail, I didn't even receive any with my kit. I'll let you know when I get them and what they are like. Perhaps you should email him again, or call.

for the 21.5mm bar. hummmmm...

 

Well, he knows I have the 19mm one, guess I'll have to wait and see.

 

kopp- did you get your bushings yet? mitch and tony's both
are ignoring my emails. im glad i had that bushing otherwise
i would be up the creek.
