Strut bar from FS-DE @ ZM .. please help

hi i transfered the thread to here because i hope i can get more support

the scratching only happens when in rear gear...

i don't know..what would you suggest me to do ???
i mean for the 1.6ZM there seems to be no other strut that fits it correctly (length, holes) but the bar must be somehow modified because i don't want it to hit the manifold anymore...

cansavem suggested to soemhow grind down the manifold, but i don't think this is acceptable....

does anyone know a solution maybe ? some brainstorming ?

------ my first post was ------
hi there.. today i got my car lowered with eibach prokit and the oem p5 strut bar that i got from canada was also installed...

the problem was that the ZM engine is sitting "too high", so the strut touches it when it's installed...this is not good when the engine moves

so the mechs put a wooden wedge between the strut and the gasket, took some steel bar and levered/bent the the strut a little more upwards with HUGE POWER... the whole engine went up and down while they did this and finally they got 1/2cm between bar and engine... damn, i almost pissed my pants when they did this... but now it seems to work..

just to let you know (i know there is at least one other p5@ZM guy here
i will take fotos later..

It looks like you'e missing the bracketry. That would raise it up a bit.

a little late on this but just add some spacers on the bracket, this needs to be done so it won't hit...i did it on mine and have had it for close to 2 years with no problems....

i've got the 1.6L ZM-DE you're referring to AND the OEM strut bar...you need to shim it up with some washers.that's all

i have a ZM-engine, not a ZM-DE like you do...
even with washers the manifold will still rub the bar when in rear... mainly because the ZM-DE's manifold still is different from the ZM's...

i already DID use washers (about almost 1cm in height) and it wasnt nearly enough... even with levering up the bar a bit (with a lot of force) it wasnt enough..

the pic:
isnt that your zm-de engine bay? if NOT, please make a foto of yours so i can get an idea whats it like...

Yes, that is exactly what my bay looks like...you need to put some washers under the brackets and on the bolts on the brackets...just use your head, thats all I did and mine fits...

as this is your ZM-DE indeed, your manifold (which is different from mine) is obviously placed much lower than mine...ilooking at the picture i would say about 2-3cm... so it's logical that you don't have any problems...

but let's stop this. the bar is with some metal works company these days so they can properly bend it up and forwards so it will not touch my manifold anymore.
