I have a question on how to depress the piston on caliper for the rear disk brakes on my '02 P5.. On my old CRX, the piston would simply screw back in giving room for the new pads.. But I can not see how to get that piston to move on this car. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance..

There is an allen screw on the rear of the caliper (8mm I think), you must turn this to "unscrew" the piston.

The 4mm hex is the manual adjustment gear and is hidden behind a screw that you need to remove to access the hex. Use a 14mm wrench to remove the screw. It's the screw directlly in line with the caliper.

from my manual:
Disc Pad Installation Note
1. Turn the manual adjustment gear
counterclockwise with an Allen wrench to pull the
brake caliper piston inward. (Turn until it stops.)
2. Install the disc pads.
3. Turn the manual adjustment gear clockwise until
the brake pads just touch the disc plate. Turn the
manual adjustment gear back 1/3-turn.

I'm nearly done with replacing my pads and rotors... one side went fine. On the other, the allen screw was completely stuck... no amount of lube, rust-eater, etc could loosen it. Now, of course, it's stripped. Am I completely up the creek? I need to turn that screw to move the piston... but can't get a bite anymore.

Any suggestions apart from getting a new caliper?

One new piece of info - I pounded in a slightly larger hex wrench and tried to turn... the whole screw came out! The worm gear threads on the screw are all bent and quite a few are broken off. This is from the factory - never been turned before. It seems that my real problem isn't that the screw was stuck... it's the gear itself that's stuck! Any ideas? This is kind of urgent!

Just an update - I pulled the caliper off and put it in a vice and let some rust eater soak in there for about 20 minutes. I finally got the screw to turn enough to retract the piston. I guess next time I have to do any brake work... new calipers.
