new tires

After this winter I'll be replacing my stock tires (Dunlops) with Yoko AVS ES100's. I've got stock chrome rims on my 2003.5 P5 (16x6) and would like to go to 205/50-16's which will run 4/10" taller (total diameter) than stock. Question is will this rub fenders with my Eibach Pro-Kit suspension (with passengers)? I could also go 205/45-16's which would be 4/10" lower overall height from stock but would leave that much more wheel well gap. Also, 205's are normally recommended for 16x6.5" rims. Any problems fitting these to 6" width?

I'd love to buy new 17" rims and go with 215/40-17's cause they're the same overall diameter as the stock combo but aside from the cost am wondering about the ride getting too choppy on 40's. Comments?

fks

Exclamation Camber

i have the same car, with 16000 miles. when the car had 2000 miles on it when I installed the Eiback Pro kit. Well, my tires were getting a little bit skinny, so I took the car in today for new tires. I have always rotated my tires every 5000 miles, and never noticed any indication of inner tire wear (seemed normal). They called me to pick up the car when they installed the new tires, and said that the belts were showing on the insides of all of the tires (fronts more severely). Did you install a camber kit with your springs? have you experienced any trouble with inner tire wear, etc? Thanks in advance for your reply.

No, I haven't but I will check that wear ASAP. I'll probably get the camber kit if its showing that kind of wear. Thanks for the heads up.

In response to the plus sizing, I had 205/40/WR17 Konig Traffik with Yoko AVS ES100 on my protege. Riding on those tires with the stock suspension was pretty choppy. It is not a problem if you do mostly highway driving but if you live in a city or place with bumpy roads you might consider sticking with your nice OEM size.

The other thing I have to warn you about the Yoko AVS ES100 is that they have ZERO snow performance. They are a true summer tire (or I guess you could call them 3-season... to me there's no difference). I had these tires on when I thought the snow season was over, but I guessed wrong and got caught on a patch of ice... damaged one rim and ruined my alignment. Just never use them in the winter if you live in a place with snow. Same goes for Kumho Ecsta Supra 712, as many people will agree.
