I'm looking for some good springs for my '03 P5, but I don't want it too low that I'll be bottoming out and scraping over ever little bump. I've looked at Eibachs (which used to be my favorite) but since then I've talked with other Eibach owners and some have complaints. So now I'm not so sure.

I also don't want it still too high. I would like around a 2" lowering but I'm afraid that I'll scrape and bottom out. The Pro-Kit lowers it, what, 1.4" and 1.2"? That's probably not low enough for my tastes. I'd get some adjustable coilovers, but the only quality ones I've been able to find (Ground Control and Skunk2) are $300+.

Any suggestions?

 

I'd suggest Spoolins springs, 2" all around. THat is what I am getting Looks damn good

It shows a picture of the mp3 but I talked to terry and he said it looks good on a p5 as well

 

But would 2" be too low? I used to have a Fiero that was extremely low to the ground, but almost never scraped.

Any advice anyone?

 

I have a friend with a p5 with skunk2 coilovers and he has it 3" dropped and he can drive fine with no bottoming out, he really has to watch out for speed bumps and holes in the road. I have the wings west body kit and I will still have a lot of clearence but go with what you think is best for you.. Good luck hunting

To each their own, but that's too low for my liking... I think the Eibach's give the best drop...

 

mines dropped 3 inches and has a body kit. i dont have much trouble with bottoming out at all. ive scraped twice since its been lowered and thats been like 6 months. check out tien springs if you dont wanna spend money on GCs or skunk2s. they are a 2 inch drop also, and shoudnt be to expensive. i wouldnt worry about scraping with 2 inches as long as your somewhat careful.

I was looking into the model eibach has below the pro kit. You people install these yourself? or pay out the *** for a mechanic?

Shouldn't you get your front realigned after you install springs?

 

You should get a 4-wheel alignment after you install springs. I paid for install & alignment because I don't have a spring compressor and didn't want to spend the time to do it myself. The guys at the shop did the whole install in a little over an hour. Without air tools or a lift, expect it to take you more like 3 to 4 hours. I got charged $100 for the spring install and $50 for the alignment. I considered that more than fair considering the amount of time it would have taken me (not to mention the peace of mind from a professional install).

The Eibach kit is great because it lowers your car, but not low enough that you have to crawl over speed bumps. Southern California is the land of speed bumps and it's a pain to get all sideways every time you encounter one. I'm much too impatient for that kind of stuff. Besides, a 2" to 3" drop is impractical for the vast majority of roads. It may work well on a track (or not), and some people may think it looks good (I'm not one of those people), but I don't think it's worth it.

 

I wouldn't go below 1.5 inches...

otherwise, you'd likely kiss your muffler, cat, suspension pieces goodbye...
