i don't know which coils to get so maybe u guys can help me out..

my car is a Protege 2001 ES 2.0L and my choices are:

-Eibach Prokit or Sportline
-H&R
-Tein S-Tech
-Apex

i want my car dropped around 1.5 to 2 inches and i'm also changing the shocks as well.

also, can any1 tell me the big diff between eibach sportline and prokit?

any advice will be great,

I will be purchasing springs in the next month or so. I was considering Eibach Pro or Intrax. I don't anything about the Goldlines and don't know of anyone on this forum who has them.
Why do YOU recommend them?

I love my Eibach ProKit! The look is perfect, the ride is smooth, and the handling is great! The Sportline springs are a more aggressive spring, and they usually lower you 2" or more. Last time I looked, I don't even remember seeing a Sportline kit for our car.

 

i have the eibach pro-kit on my p5 (with tokico struts)...the springs have been on for a while...i LOVE it...just waiting to put on the struts.

i have eibach sport-lines ordered for my mp3...i'll let you know what i think of those when they come in.

 

OK, I just saw that they added the Sportline kit since I looked last. Aside from the spring rate, it drops the front 1.8" and the rear 1.8", instead of the Prokit's 1.4" F, 1.8" R.

 

if you do install any lowering spring is it required to also instal new struts? or do you not have to worry about hitting you're bumbstops all the time

 

You don't have to replace your struts, but a lowered spring will probably wear out the stockers a bit faster. You will also get better handling by upgrading the struts to a performance unit designed to work with the springs. As far as the bumpstops go, you can either get the Mazdaspeed bumpstops, or just cut yours in half.

 

I vote for Eibach Prokit and Tokco blues too. I have em and love em!

 

Tokico blues are great. If dialing in different handling is in your future, and you can swing the extra $150-$175 or so for the set, consider the 5-way Illumina's (although the rears will be a PITA to adjust), but you can't go wrong with either ones. They also both have a beefed up sway-bar tab, a problem for some who've upgraded their bars.

 

I just ordered some Eibach springs for my P5. I chose the Prokit because they are progressive rate and ought to provide a handling benefit over the stock units. Truth be told, I love the way this car handles - excellent roll stiffness, good grip, communicative chassis at the limit. Now, it's going to be even better. The car should be aligned and ready to roll by the weekend. I have a question for you guys - any problems clearing raised driveway entrances, speed bumps, etc with the Prokit? Eibach claims a 1.4" drop in the front, and a 1.2" drop in the rear. Obviously, this is lower... but does it appear lower now, or is it barely noticeable unless you park next to another Protege?

 

You tires won't be tucked into the wheelwells, but I think the drop is noticeable. At the very least, your car will look like it SHOULD HAVE when it came from the factory! As far as speed bumps and such, be careful. I don't have many problems with mine, but on a very steep driveway or tall speed bump I scrape occasionally. The best thing is to take the driveways at a slight angle, don't come at them from straight on.
