I'm having a hard time finding a strut bar for my 1999 Pro. I found a place that has bars for up to a 1998. Does any one know if I can modify the 1998 bar to fit. Thanks for your help.

corksport should have the 99's, also the dealer has the stock ones for third gens. check into those.

Can't go wrong for $59. If your car has cruise control, you will need to trim the bracket that mounts the cruise control unit to the passenger shock tower for the strut tower bar bracket to fit correctly. It's not too difficult, I have the same bar and did the modification to the bracket.

They sell the strut bar from the Protege5 which should be a direct bolt on. I'm still waiting on mine to be shipped.

 

Will this bar fit in a 99? The site says 2001-2002.

 

I have previously emailed MazdaStuff on this issue and was told that the 2001-2002 bar they sell does NOT fit the 1999 models.

 

Yes it does fit - just ask Hank (ZoomZoomH). Just make sure they provide you w/ the correct cruise control bracket. See my new post in this category for more info.

 

Got my strut bar from corksport finally.

Sure makes a diference.

Only thing is to cut the cruise control mount bracket, but other than this, worth the investment.

I got mine too. The instruction were a bad copy and I installed it without, but It wen in just fine. It even says on the Instructions that it fits all Protege 99+ models.
