wrecked P5

Well....looks like I might have totaled my P5 today. I was traveling northbound Telegraph when I stopped for traffic. I heard some squeeling behind me and looked up in my rearview mirror just in time to utter some curses and hold on. The guy that hit me from behind pushed me into the truck in front of me. The truck took off and left the scene but the guy that hit me stayed behind and called the police for me. The truck isnt getting too far though because he left the imprint of his liscense plate number in my bumper. HA! DUMBASS. Anywho I'm worried it will be totaled because the C-pillars are crunched up and folded. As I pulled into AutoMetric Collision to get my car repaired, the Camry who hit me from behind was there too. His front end was demolished. I was really suprised at how well my car held up after being hit at about 35mph. I was checking out my car a little more thoroughly with the mechanic at the shop when another P5 came in with its front end dragging on the ground. The mechanic said that one was definately going to be totaled. Today was just a bad day for P5's. Wish me luck. (I'm worried I won't be able to find a car as nice as my P5 for the price I paid.)

...if you are lucky, they will total it out, and give you a check so that you can go buy another Protege. They (good body shops) can fix a car with major structural damage, but IMO it will never be the same again. I have experienced this first hand with my Fiance's previous car, which the insurance company ordered fixed after incurring $8000 in damage. It drove different with heavier steering input, hoses rubbed on fasteners that they used to have clearance from and developed leaks, overspray was evident in some areas, and the trim was not reassembled properly in the trunk. Worse, rust began to form in repaired areas a few years after the work was done. Yet, the car looked straight, and was repaired by a very well known shop here in Michigan... Collex. Trust me. Ditch your sorry P5 if you can, and get another. You'll thank yourself for it in the long run.

I feel your pain. My ES was Tboned hard by a shitty 2nd gen Accord, hit and run, about a week ago. I tried to chase the sob but my axle was completely shot and bent in. 10 more days until my car is out of the shop. had to spend my xmas funds on the insurance deductable. Oyi.

I think I might have driven by your accident, man. I live out in royal oak and was driving out to my gf's...that sux so bad. It seems like its been a real bad week for a bunch of p5 owners. I got cut off at just south of university dr. and opdyke on the 23rd...was forced off the road into the curb of a drivway. screwed my entire passenger side front suspension, totaled to about $2200 in damages. What makes it even worse is that I just got my p5 like 3 weeks ago. Sorry to hear about your car. At least you made it outta of it okay.

Believe it or not, a couple of weeks after my dad bought the Protege (new) that I now have (I bought it from him), he got rear-ended by a super-sized Pickup trailering a BOBCAT. The guy wasn't paying attention, and nailed the car, which pushed him into the guy ahead of him. Thankfully, my dad saw it coming and turned the wheel so he could only get the corner of the car ahead of him. With only one payment made on the car, the insurance company forked out the $8,800 to replace the back end of the car. The place that did the repairs did a pretty crappy job and the rear passenger side door doesn't fit exactly in the front and the gap between the trunk lid and the right rear tail-light, is not quite right, but unless you were OCD like me about my car, you'd never really notice. Good luck with either the repairs or the new purchace, hope it works out well!

i definatly feel your pain. If you look around this forum i garuantee you will find pics of my protege. but i found it to be a blessing in disguise b/c i am now driving a 01' MP3 and i love it to death, however, the shitty part is that i will be losing my license here in a couple of weeks or so. I just hope the bmv loses my address. damn speeding tickets. oh well i had fun getting all the tickets anyways. but welcome to the forum and sucks to hear it. who knows it may be a blessing in disguise for you as well, you never know.
