Question Would this work?

Trade my 2003 Auto Pro ES with 2800+ miles for a 2003 Manual Pro?

Or just wait for the 3?

well seeing as how we REALLY don't have any good information on the 3...any real details anyway....we don't even know for SURE what its going to look like....

if you are seriously considering this so that you can get a manual....I think what I would do if I were you is to wait till the "3" comes out...gets tested....then make up your mind which model you really like better....as the 3's are coming out...a 2003 will be able to be had for a better deal as the dealers will be wanting to move them out to make room for the new models....the only draw back to that is your selection won't be as good.....its a chance you will have to decide to take or not.

I thought it was 160hp...either way you got more power with the 3.

I don't think the main issue is whether or not to get the 3; the issue is resale value. A car typically loses 20% of its value the moment it's driven off the lot, it doesn't matter what condition it's in. If you try to trade your car for a new one right now, you WILL lose money, it's just a question of how much.

I would wait ~9 months, then look at trading the car for a USED 2001+ 5-speed Protege that's already taken the 20% price hit. If you find a used 2003, you could break even; if you manage to find a 2001 or 2002 (they're basically the same car) you may come out significantly ahead, although you may get a car with slightly higher miles. Plus, you can also compare it with the 3.

and when the 3 comes out....they may have hosed up the looks of the car totally....and you may want to stick with a 2003 or 2002 model....regardless of the power increase...
