Worried much?
I keep reading the vast amount of "I blew up my engine", "rod knock", "VTCS screws", etc. threads and it was making me paranoid. So what's a girl to do?
Answer, have the hubby go to the service department and make them check the VIN for TSBs. Yep, that's what he did. Apparently I have nothing "outstanding" on my car...the whole "engine replacement" took care of the warranty issues.
Oh, and I still have a warranty [as far as you know] until July 9, of 2006. Good deal.
Basically, I got skeered and needed some reassurance that everything was going to be okay but I'm fine now. Hubby says he might even get me some LSD...no....not for me...for the car.

Better safe than sorry. As for me, I am planning on removing the VTCS and porting an intake manfold once I can find an inexpensive used one and installing that on my car. I'll Loc-Tite the screws on the VTCS in case I ever put it back on.

I'm never worried something is going to break. I'm expecting it to. Last time I took the womp out to the track I let Luke (rogue pro5) drive it and he limped it back with about $1000 worth of damage....it's going to happen, just a matter of time.

The engine was replaced within the first 10k miles or so.... "oil consumption"
Perhaps if I don't drive it over the winter I can get G&S Motorsports (a subsidiary of K&S Racing ) to take off the intake manifold and go to town.

why? I knew the risks I was taking ever time I take the car out to the track. My wife also knows those 3am phone calls from the track....and what they mean.
If you're not prepared to break something you're not prepared to race.

Should I fix what ain't broke... yet ???
Aren't the VTCS screws inside the intake manifold?
Reading so many posts about it is worrying me, so is it a good idea to remove the manifold and have a look, even in the absence of a problem?
I'm a capable mechanic, but I have not been into this engine yet, and would prefer to keep it that way, as this P5 is my only transportation.
Since gas prices went up, I haven't been redlining it nearly as often. Driving it more like a grocery getter.
