If they do decide to write it off () you could most likely buy back the wreck and sell it yourself for more. Someone wanting to make a turbo'd P5 would grab that up real quick I would think.

And if the hatch is the problem, why not just remove the hatch from the design? Maybe paint the whole thing lime green, and El-Camino style the back, put some nauzz bottles in there...

I've had mine for about 2 years, no problems, and they look just as nice and bright as Silverstars.
Now you tell me after I ordered the Osrams. lol I will keep those in mind though if these should burn out on me.

I have heard some good stories concerning the Osrams and heard horror stories (mine included) about the regular silverstars.

Warranty commentary

This is a general commentary about warranties--I'm not making any statements about the quality of any particular product.

Warranties do a lot for consumer confidence and boost sales, but they don't help consumers as much as you might think. Consider two examples in the automotive marketplace:

1) lightbulbs. They're <$30, and there's a certain amount of overhead associated with using the warranty, such as product registration, lag time, shipping...anything that hampers the process of getting a replacement. The manufacturer hopes that the overhead is viewed as comparable to the $30 required for a new bulb, so that the consumer doesn't pursue a replacement, or that the consumer simply doesn't remember there is a warranty.

2) tires. Most tire companies offer treadlife warranties. In order to get a replacement, you must state all the particulars of your application--rim size, tire pressure, conditions of use, etc. If anything's out of spec, warranty voided. The real kicker is you have to prove that your car was aligned every 5K miles.

I'm just saying there is some psychology (example 1) and unseen particulars (example 2) regarding warranties in the marketplace.

I think I may have killed the thread --you know, since I usually babble on about my 3rd gen and I'm driving this..

and haven't seen my third gen in days.

now everyone needs to post so that that horrible image isn't on the last page of the thread anymore

^ I'll be curious to see what you think because I might go that route.

Got my Hankooks installed today, saved $229 just driving 58km.

I already have the Simota Twin Charger installed, and I love it. It looks great, sounds awesome, and comes with fantastic clamps for installation. It's easily downgraded to a SRI as well, but I'm gonna try out the CF filter just to add a little something to the engine bay.

The only thing to keep in mind if you go this route is that this filter is only means to replace the OEM filter, it doesn't come with any pipes. So using it with the stock rubber/plastic hoses might look kinda tacky. Try to get your hands on a cheap eBay SRI or something just to get some aluminum piping to replace the OEM cheapo ones.

Well I am still in search of a few fixes for my MSP. Like why the hell my turbo sucks, why the hell my car is beginning to drift left, and why the engine sounds like ****.

Here is what sucks guys. The dude who owned this beaut before me obviously just loved speed, bought this car, decided he thought it would go faster than it really does being stock, and essentially didn't care that it was a limited ed. car.

I am basically saving this car from any other owners who might do it harm. BOS needs some work though. Also, that trunk clunk, what was it that causes that again?

AXR Clunk Fix will get rid of that

sounds like your car is like my car... mine pulls one way under gas/ then goes other way when you let off haha... but.. acts different depending on road... go figure. the only other thing that is bugg'n me is the clutch for now

but.. on a good note, it pulls from 2k-6k w/ no hesitation now (thx to badly need spark plugs/wires)

^^ pulling all sorts of different ways = probably your tires. My Kumho Ecsta MX were like that but my Bridgestone Potenza RE750 not even a hint of it..

here's a read on the subject tramlining:
