Weird gas filling problem... help

another suggestions might be in the area where you guys experience this the pumps are different, i.e. the little nozzle on the handle is shorter thus it does not senses that the tank is fuel in time. but i doubt this is the answer just a wild guese.

when I filled up the car the 1st day I got it I was sure it had the flapper. then I wasn't sure only 70%. I filled up maybe 5 times after that and didn't pay attention. I went to check and I have no flapper, but I lended the car to my mom and she was the last one to put in gasoline (which was the first time she filled up on this car). She is kind of destructive so after reading all the replies I assume my car as well as all the others don't have the flapper so I can't blame good ol mom

I own 2 Mazda Protegé LXs model years 2003. I liked the car so well I bought one for my wife.
Topic, Weird gas filling, I have read a similar situation before so I went looking for it and it was located on the Miata forum.
