Well, in order for your warrenty to be viod (depending on the dealership) you would have to modify your car and that part that was modified jacked something up. For example....say you put in a cold air intake and your car guzzled up some water which in turn ruined your engine. Because the Intake was at fault, your warrenty would be void. On that same note, however, if your clutch grinds down, your intake would have nothing to do with that. So you are still under warrenty. Sometimes dealers could be dicks and say anything you do to your car will void warrenty. Just remember that bolt-on parts are the easiest to get away with because all you have to do is replace them with the OEM stuff if ever you feel paranoid.

Welcome to the board, this has been beat to death here before so I am going to suggest doing a search (also a good idea with most topics as most questions have already been answered in one form or another).

Additionally a web search on "Magnusson-Moss Act" will lead you to the legislation about what a dealer can claim does and does not void a warranty.

While you're at it also check over the FAQ as there is lots o' good info in there.

Hey Max and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

for the definitive and LEGAL answer to your question....go out on the net and find the "Magnuson Moss Warranty Act" and read up....that is the federal law that governs such things....and protects you from getting ripped off by some dealer with their head up their butts.

here's a little taste of what it says...

The Magnusson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade commission Improvement Act of 1975. Under the Magnusson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of such aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicles warranty or that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure.

...Have fun!
