Ambient,

Reminds me of Fight Club... Is that where you got it from? It's sad but true I know, but that's the corporate world for you.

Umm, if you've ever worked on a tranny or even looked at yours, there is ZERO way that a transmition failure could lead to the timing belt jumping.

Hmm...So if the tranny was to slip out of gear while acclerating and cause the engine to redline...you do not believe that it might cause the timing belt to slip? Hmm...it sounds fairly reasonable to 3 mechanics I have spoken with.
But who cares because PseudoRealityX knows all right? :wackit:

The tranny on the MP3 is the same as the one used in the 2.0l sedans and P5.

The tranny used on all of these above mentioned cars are the same as the one used in the 1st gen 1.8 DOHC cars. This is a fairly strong tranny.

Here's the thing with all of you who blew up the tranny and got the diagnosis of bent shift forks: LEARN HOW TO FRIGGIN SHIFT AND QUIT SLAMMING IT INTO GEAR!!!

Ignorant!, Ignorant!, Ignorant!
Maybe if you knew me or the situation fully then it wouldn't be, but since you don't know me or the situation at all, IT IS!
Seeing as how I make a living driving a "FRIGGIN" stick, as you put it, I feel very capable driving a stick, as a matter of fact I am driving a van right now with a three on the tree and guess what...no problems at all.
But you go on and think what you want, but please try and not make such ignorant comments in the future, for the sake of others.

Well it wasn't because of bad gas unless the guy at Murphy USA put the wrong gas in the 93 octane tank. I have always used 93 since day one.
I figure it was the advanced timing but not sure. All I know is I was in the middle of shifting from first to second when the car hit around 8,000 rpm and then the car started sputtering until it finally died and would not start after that. It would crank but it would not turn over.

But their are others that ARE having problems, not just me.
And what about my Mazda Rep. claiming I abused the car and not covering the engine under warrenty BUT he did cover the tranny, which was totally screwed? That doesn't sound fishy to anyone else? I mean come on, why wouldn't they let the abuse claim cover the tranny as well? You don't think they know they are having problems with this tranny?

MP3-Owner June-30th-2002 11:38 AM

That's another thing...The rev limiter didn't ever stop the rpm's from reaching 8,000. Isn't the rev limiter set to 6,500 or something? Hmm...maybe a faulty rev limiter.

And how in the HELL do you suggest I used any nitrous when I had the bottle CLOSED! As a matter of fact the damn thing was EMPTY! I had opened the bottle a weak prior to all of this so when I parked my car in the 90 degree heat here in florida it wouldn't Explode ,sorry it just seemed to fit.

So whatever, I am getting my car fixed by someone else then the dealership because they want to charge me 5grand for a block and head so I told them to go sit on it!

I am trying to get something going for everyone out there that has not ran nitrous on their cars and are still having problems with the tranny's. It's too late for me but maybe some ofthe other pro owners out there can benefit from something like this.

MP3-Owner June-30th-2002 11:57 AM

The nitrous might have weakend my motor, most likely it did, but like I said what about the rest of pro owners who haven't used anything that are having problems with their tranny's bushings, synchro's, forks?

Uh...DUH! :withstupi

So why don't you go and :fu: yourself!!!

HAHA! I feel like a moderator now. No hard feelings dude but c'mon man, my car is in the hands of a very good mechanic as we speak getting fixed. Which means I am dealing with it and there is no crying anyone a damn river. However I have noticed that many other pro owners have had problems with their tranny's as well. So I thought I would ask around and see just how many people were having problems, but everyone on this board must be perfect drivers because no one wants to speak up, either that or everyone is too affraid to speak for the fear of being bashed.

First of all tell me something, which of these so called "MORE POWERFUL" cars has this tranny been in? Just how much MORE POWER are we talking.
It has already been leaked that "the reason for the Mazdaspeed Protege's rather conservative 170hp rating is the tranny. Apparently, our trannies can't take a huge amount of power", I would assume that this is with Professional drivers on Mazda's payrole.
I would like to know how Roger Foo, or any of the racers for that matter, have modified thier tranny's or if it was even needed with this super strong tranny.
