Trade in for Mazdaspeed Pro?

Okay, Since my '02 Pro is my first my first new car I'm new to this. If I were able (which my dealer promises me I can, he says he will "call me" when they are released since he is a friend), to trade mine in, how much would I lose in the trade. I just made my 4th payment. I want to get a turbo for my 02' but if I can get the MSpeed without losing too much I'll just trade in. Any suggestions?

how much would you lose in a trade? quite a bit. I say couple grands easily, if not more....

as general rule of thumb, the first year is when a new car depreciates the fastest. My '00 ES lost about 4-5k in the first year.

but it's up to you, are you willing to eat 2-3k (or more if MS Protege comes out later and you own the car for almost a year) on a less-than-year-old car just to get a turbo'd version?

I'm really not sure about the economics of it all, but from what I've read on this board so far, it seems to me that you'd be much better off keeping your car, and modifying it to the specs of the Mazdaspeed Protege.

1- You don't have to pick between orange and black for colour. Not that they're bad colours, it's just that yours will be even more unique.

2-You don't lose money for getting out early from your finance or lease.

3-You won't have to pay the extra 5-6$ or whatever it will be to get one of them since they're saying that the price tag is between 20 and 22k.

For the difference that you save up from #2 & #3 above, you can afford to get the Callaway turbo kit that Mazdaspeed is using or even a different turbo kit. You may choose to get the LSD that also comes in the car, and you can pick different style rims.

ya know...this may seem kind of silly or even blatently obvious...BUT....seeing as how your friend is the dealer...HE is the one that can tell you EXACTLY what you will lose....and only HE being your friend...will be able to make you the absolutely BEST deal on your trade in.....ask him. if he is a true friend...he will tell you the truth....whether it hurts or not.
