Touch-up paint not the same with car.

My P5 rear bumper got scratched by a SUV.

I was trying to put some touch-up paint to my rear bumper the other day and found that the color of the touch-up paint is lighter than the color of my bumper.

Anyone have the same problem?
Should I go a different dealer and try to get a different bottle?

There isn't a bottle of touch up paint in the world that is perfect. You are working with different paint, probably made by a different manufacturer, applied differently, and the paint on your car starts to slowly fade the minute they drive it out of the factory. Now you know why autobody shops cost so much.

Dark colors are almost impossible to match. Bodyshops even have problems matching black to black or dark blue to dark blue. its just a fact of life. Touch up paint will never make it perfect, its moreso to camoflauge the white or gray scratch marks.

touchup paint is the closest you'll get to the actual paint color in a bottle that costs only $8. the real purpose of touchup paint is to help conceal very tiny scratches. i found this page for more information on how to use a power buffer, scratch remover/rubbing compound, and finishing polish to reduce the visibility of a scratch. download their free autocare manual for tips on how to use touch-up paint.

hope this helps, i know i found it very informative. you've always got the option of maaco! uh-oh better get maaco! hehe.
