Thought you all should know
Thought you all should know
Hey everyone,
I don't know if any of you guys know about this stuff but I recently was enlightened to a product called Motorkote. This stuff is pretty amazing. It is basically an oil additive that works wonders. I have used several "additives" in the past and this stuff is not even in the same boat as the other stuff thats out. I recently bought a bottle of this stuff at Summit racing and the same day I put it in I felt my car run twice as smooth as it ever has since it was from the factory! No joke. Im still waiting to see what kind of fuel mileage I get from this stuff cuz its supposed to increase gas mileage, torque, and even horsepower by decreasing friction and wear in the engine. whether it does all that stuff I don't know yet but I do know that I can feel that the engine is under less restriction! Check out there website. THe stuff is a little bit pricey , but the way I look at it is that it is worth the price to take this kinda care of your engine! Check it out: <www.motorkote.com>. They have some dyno results and a demo you can check out where they compare it to other additives. I am impressed so far! It seems like its the real deal.

i'm leary of all snake oils like that. If you're going to do something like that you should always get a before and after dyno so you know....make 2 pulls...pour in the oil....then let it idle for a few minutes, then make two more pulls.

With some research you would realize it isn't a snake oil. Like I previously mentioned. It isn't the possibility of horsepower increase that led me to use this stuff. That is just a possible biproduct. There claim isn't based on increasing horsepower. It's increasing the life of your engine. From personal experience, it has made my car run smoother than these cars run when they are new. This stuff is good, especially if u are boosting!
Haven't seen an oil additive yet be able to show SOLID evidence(as in claims other than their own, independant testing) that they do ANYTHING positive with no negative side effects......
I still say snake oil
I still say snake oil
if you had some other way of proving some kind of benefit it would be different but just saying it feels smoother means very little since there is no way to prove if it in fact is doing anything.
We're not trying to crap on you or anything. The issue is that a lot of people spend money on stuff that is kindy gimmicky and they then convince themselves they feel a gain or improvement. It happens everyday.
People claim their exhausts or intakes give them 20whp from the ole butt dyno but in fact you get 1-4whp...not enough to measure on the street.

Once again, I am not claiming any significant horsepower gain here. Just like you, I have witnessed gimmicks time and time again. I witnessed a guy at Summit Racing test this stuff against other additives. Just like the demo shows on the website ( If anyone was open minded enough to check it out). I saw it with my own eyes. I know its hard for you guys to believe this just from word of mouth. Trust me I am not going to preach something that I don't believe works. Thats why I wanted you guys to research this stuff so you would be able to see that this stuff is not another "snake oil." I just wanted to share this stuff with you guys so u would hopefully see that this stuff may actually be a legit product. And all I'm saying is that I believe it is. I am already noticing that I am getting better gas mileage. And I am not going to go pay to get my car dynoed to see if it gained horsepower for something that will likely give a couple hp if any. A dyno will not tell you whether or not you are getting better mileage and if the engine is running smoother. I am using this stuff because I believe it will help my engine stay in better shape in the long run. Isn't something that reduces friction and wear inside the engine a positive thing? I have seen tests run on such things as swapping out lubricants with higher grade ones (ie. Royal purple) and there were gains in horsepower, torque and reduced heat. What would make it impossible for this stuff to do the same?

Buck, we're not trying to dissuade you from using it yourself.
But if you are trying to convince others to try it (other, more skeptical people) there should be more actual proof offered as to it's benefit.
Mac & Rod also have made their opinions known (and I agree) for others who have read this thread.
IMO, a product's claimed benefit must be backed with independent, unbiased proof. Otherwise you have to assume it not only doesn't work but can cause potential harm.

most oil additives on the market today that are supposed to lubircate better or protect better don't have the ability to outperform common household bleach. That's right. Bleach in the oil will work better than most additives but it is NOT recommended.
I kept using the hp measurement because it's most commonly refered to. You say you feel the engine is "smoother"....how are you measuring this? Engine rpms at idle, under a load, speed of revs, etc???
In my personal opinion (been a mechanic for many years) I have never been in an EFI car that didn't run smooth that didn't have a problem somewhere in the system. If you have a new(er) car and you pour something into the oil or gas you're not going to see any difference or feel it.
If these products made parts last longer, gave better performance or mileage then they'd come from the factory with them. This all goes back to the "tornado"....some people swear by them....those people are NOT experts.

like I said earlier, no'one is trying to **** in your cornflakes or anything but you can't just show up and swear that some oil additive is making your car run better without some kind of proof. That's all we're saying.
If your car idles smoother/lower/higher, rev's faster, etc that's fine...but just saying it's smoother means nothing. Smoother when?

Isn't that what we're doing here?
Don't get me wrong, im not taking this personally. Like you guys said something like this is useless without proof thats why I figure I shouldn't have posted this. You guys are just in your opinions. I totally realize that you guys are just giving your feedback, and thats cool. It just can get a little frustrating ya know. It can be very easy to misunderstand someone in writing. I totally agree on your guys' opinions. You have every right to be skeptical without proof. I'm the same way. Something like this is very trivial in the first place, thats why I figure I shouldn't have posted on it.
