swivling shift ****?

ok so here is the problem, its not for my protege really (though itd be cool), my friend has a 5 speed in his little sports truck, all hyped up and stuff, he has this cool dice shift ****, that is held in by a screw at the top and side, but he doesnt like it being stationary, he likes it to swivle on the shift rod, is there a way or something made that will allow us to secure the **** so it doesnt always come off, but still allow it to swivle?

it possible.....IF where the screw goes in from the side and secures it stationary on the shaft, IF insted of it contacting the shaft it were to fit into a groove there....it may be able to swivel insted of being held stationary....

I am just guessing here based on the description of your post...but what does the screw in the TOP of it do?

of course another way would be to drill and tap the VERY end of his shift rod.....then he would have to drill a hole in the TOP of the dice....put the **** over the rod and then a countersunk bolt of some sort into the end of the rod....just don't tighten it so much that it keeps it from turning....

that could work quite slick, but im pretty sure the top screw does nothing from what he says (wtf is it there then? lol), but originally this shifter had a screw on ****, this dice **** just tightens on to the side with a screw (crrrrap).... but i wounder if drilling into the shift rod would weaken it much (even if it is a small tapped hole)? but that could work quite well.

just depends on how big the rod is and how large a hole you drill into it I guess. its not like you are putting that much stress on it shifting anyway.....
