spolier on rear of 2002 Protege

Well...not knowing what else to say but the truth and nothing but....First time car buyer/ leasor.....2002 Mazda Protege...( what else?) and as a result of the what I consid4er poor rear view mirror line of sight area...I "bumped" a steel post. AS a result the right rear spolier area cracked and two fair sized peices fell off/out. Question is this.....as a leasor of the car ( for three yrs) how costly will it be to have the dealership do the work of replacing the rear spolier versus me buying the part and doing it myslef?. I am well aware that the leae agreement may have some stipulations as to repairs due to damage etc etc. however, since this was MY fault ( and needless to say the wife went thru the roof!!!).....hows this gonna affect the lease agreement? please leave word back here or use the email addy I left which is valid....for a long time....

Well if the dealer knows about it than they will insist they do the install.

Solution is: 1) Buy the factory style wing from Wings West as it's cheaper. 2) Install it yourself [it's just a bolt-on] 3) Don't tell your dealer. What they don't know won't hurt them.

Spoiler...

Take a look on ebay. there are many oem replacements on there for 150 to 200 dollars. its a simple bolt on. shouldnt be too difficult to tackle. Im leasing mine too. and mazda leasing told me i can do anything i want to the car, as long as i have it back to factory when i return it. Im going to buy mine out. i love it too much though.

Post spoiler re-visited

Well.......in a reply to the wonderful responses I have received...( which by the way I didn't even know of this site till I did ALOT of digging.....turns out that the dealer doesn't even have the new parts for that year (2002) even in their computer system.....sssooooo........have opted out to procure the spoler from the coparts place on the web one of you fine gentlemen have suggested.....and as I suspected....it is a bolt on and one elect. connection....easy enuff......since I am a diesel tech. it's a no brainer....but I absolutly freaked when it happend....
as to the poor line of sight...well...at 6'4" and then some....the mirrors aren't what I am acustomed to while behind the wheel of my Power Wagon or my Ford 4X4.....( on those you can see very well and it's a straight shot line of sight. With the Mazda...it seems as thou to me ( anyway) that the left and right outboard mirrors while adjustable don't really allow much of a view up and over the back quarter panels...maybe I'm picky but, it would make it simpler ( to me in my mind) if they either raised the mirror mountings or....reduced the spoiler height.... As the rear view mirror goes, the problem I have is that I can't see the bottom end of any ones bummper unless/until they are at some distance from me.....I'm just sorta picky I guess....but all in all....this too shall pass...

Once again...Thank you all for the wonderful replies...and have a grand new years...

Any 3rd gen spoiler will fit. The one on the 01 Protege parts list is the same thing as 02.

Actually, how can you tell if it's wrong if you're not sitting inside?
It also depends on the height of the driver and the location of the seat.
I guess if it was _extremely_ off, then you could tell. I don't see how there could be too many ppl who do that.
