Last night, i popped the cluth a little too fast and pressed on the gas a little too hard and the tires spun... but instead of just a constant spin, the tires would, i don't know, it seemed like they would grab traction but then spin again, and keep doing that.... if anybody know what i am talking about, any idea what causes that?

I'm driving a 2000 dx..

wheel hop. stiffer engine mounts will rememdy this problem.

wErd. AWR makes a front motor mount for about $65shipped. It should bolt right in with a 17mm socket and a breaker bar in about 5 minutes.

I wish I had one on my MSP so I could've launched worth a crap...Wheelhop pwnd m3.

interesting... please excuse me for being a bother... but would you mind explaining how this works? A poor engine mount makes the wheels hop when they spin?

It is a relationship between the drive train 'torquing up' and then the sudden release as the wheels spin (drop in friction). The drive train moves back to its regular position, but because higher torque is still being produced and the wheels stopped spinning for a momemt the cycle repeats itself until the car gets moving...

It all happens quickly. The stiffer mounts will keep the drive train from changing position quite as much when torquing up - hence less move/release/move release cycling...

One thing i can't stand is my wheel hop on cornering, if i take a turn fast, I don't skidd, it hops, kinda like when you go go karting lol

go figure..

but either way cornering is great no real big complaints

No probs w/corners here...just the whole straight line acceleration from a dead stop

i know, i know, old thread... but.. what if i still get wheel hop after install front/rear AWR mounts? just too much d$mn power?

I dunno, is it happening to you now?
Usually the wheel hop is caused by engine movement. Too much power would just spin your wheels.

I'd probably try to rig up some sort of engine torque brace.
