Hey guys a lot of you might think I'm an idiot for asking this...but I have no clue when it comes to car engines...so my question is...when should I change my spark plugs?....should I change them everytime I do an oil change?....please help

No need to do it at every oil change! Check in the manual...there's a prescribed change interval diagram. I'd follow that, assuming your car is only being used under normal circumstances of course.

im too lazy to go check to see if our engines use platinum plugs (i.e. NGK/Denso) or regular copper? im sure its platinum so one doesnt have to change them as much. of course, i prefer copper to platinum for performance reasons. although, i change plugs every couple thousand miles too.

The stock plugs in my Pro were copper Densos. Normal Denso and NGK plugs are not platinum.

The recommended plug change interval (30k) is normal for modern copper plugs, so I don't think Mazda is using platinum plugs in any Protege.
