oh my god I can't believe somebody compared the Protege to a Cavalier...

If somebody wants to know what a poor quality car is, go drive a Puegot or Skoda..

Our Pros are excellent little rides, and represent a solid value. But it is still an ECONOMY car. Why people expect Lexus-like quiet and solid-like-a-Bimmer build quality from a $15,000 car is beyond me.

My car has a few squeaks and rattles now that it is approaching 40,000 miles. So freaking what. I mean, the issue with the bolts missing is a bit crazy - but to say that "so many of these cars are lemons" is ridiculous. The Protege is one of the most reliable cars on the road. If you were breaking down all the time, that's one thing. But to call a car a "lemon" because it has a rattle - you expect too much.

The car is NOT shoddy. It's just CHEAP.

Settle down boys. Calling a car a 'lemon' for few issues is out of line, but you are also out of line suggesting he should just shut up and live with what is clearly a manufacturing defect, just because he bought an economy car. Is the purpose of this board not to help people? What these guys are doing is asking for help to isolate the cause of something that is NOT normal, regardless of how much one paid for the car, and whether it is a P5 or any other car.

Does this sound like "asking for help to isolate blah blah blah...." ?

We weren't talking about helping out with the problem, people on this board are always more than helpful when dealing with problems, but when people start bashing the car, enthusiasts are offended.

Okay let me get this straight, because your car has an odd rattle that randomly occours, and out of your own fault have not even attemped to get it fix, you feel that you can portray your car as a lemon. Interesting. Unfortunetly, this seems to be so stupid to me. Why don't you go to the dealer and have them check it out as it may be something simple, like heat sheid rattle of even the exhust vibrating against something. Check it out first, but don't state that many have lemons when that is a gross exageration to say the least.

You should get a REAL lemon...then you will not car that much about some funny noises

(Should tell you about my friends Neon sometime... basically one month old and the wheels were litterally falling off...e-brake cables snapped... exhaust hangers (?) ratteled loose, causing the muffler to nearly drag on the ground. Needless to say the whole factory must have been stoned or it was 5 minutes before a 4-day weekend and they needed to finish up... or something... hehhe)

forgot the username of the guy, but bro, you're comparing a cavalier to a protege? you need to get your f*cking head examined. if you really think a cavalier is better than a pro then please, leave this board now, i don't wish to read you posts or replies.

Haha back again, I haven't visited this site for awhile. Looks like I caused a lot of trouble LOL. When I compared the cavvy to the pro, I was just using it figuratively. Of course a Pro is better then a cavalier... geeeze. I just mentioned it briefly and everyone freaks out. The same thing with the Lemon comment, it was also said figuratively... obviously I don't drive a lemon, because I'm still driving my Pro right now.

Defensive defensive.... btw the virbrating noise went away HAHAHAHAHA! So either the lose part fell off, or the car fixed itself. he he he.

I had a front end rattle up front over certain kinds of bumps with 25000 miles.I got under the car and checked everywhere and couldn't find the problem.Turned out it was the sway bar end (link).Just thought I'd throw that out there since nobody seems to have mentioned that possibility.

Tell me about it. haha, some of them have pride issues lol. You come here to have a little fun, and then people freak out - like you've pissed on their dead grandmother's grave or something. Take a chill pill and call me in the morning.

And btw the Pro isn't a "cheap" car, because I payed $19k for mine at the end of the day. Maybe for you rich suburban kids out there that might be so, but for a poor college student like me? Heeeeeelllllz No....
